I love my dad but he genuinely passed on his undiagnosed adhd or sum
i really really loved how the supergirl 2026 movie subverted the 'if you kill them ur no better then them' trope, i loved that the conflict was not that he doesnt deserve to die but rather that ruthye deserves to not have to kill him, that she is just a child and should not have to carry that burden along with everything she had already been through. i really loved how kara killing him recontextulizes her actions leading up to that moment, how it becomes clear that it was never her intention to let him live, but to keep ruthye safely away from the fight.
ive always disliked the anti revenge narrative because sometime people do just do things that are unforgivable and wont be stopped by the current system, but here kara never said ruthye should forgive him, but rather that ruthye deserved to live on and it is made far more impactfull by the fact that it is in the same fight where kara accepts the suit and truly becomes supergirl. superman is the shield, supergirl is the sword, supergirl fights so girls like ruthye dont have to.
I love how Kara wanted to help and save Ruthye the way she wanted someone to come and help and save her. She’s saving other young girls from having the same fate as her and she’s giving them a chance to live peacefully and happily without fear, shame, or guilt
My favourite Supergirl letterboxd reviews
I love how messy and sassy her attitude was in this movie instead of being an all American good girl. J felt closer to her character in this movie because of how real she felt

Got problems I avoid to fix
A depressive episode somehow made me not care about others opinions anymore
Face card only thing from keeping me get beat up for it 😭
Don’t let other’s opinions ruin your happiness
Everything but verbal
I got too used to people just approaching me and pulling me along in their shenanigans now I’m in a place where ppl be equally closed off 😭
Looking back I genuinely realize ts was crazy and I still don’t know how I didn’t have my own villain arc yet
Don’t let my optimism fool you I went thru multiple depressive episodes
