Natural Products Expo 2017
Another year, another expo where I walk away with more samples than I can carry. Literally.Â
I went with my friend, Celina, who runs The Visual Veggie & you can follow her on Insta for awesome plant- based recipes! We essentially ate our way through the event.
While Iâm always looking for good healthy snacks food and nontoxic skin care products, this year I was looking specifically for CRICKETS. If you follow UFLA then you are probably already interested in environmental news and know that our food system, specifically meat production, is entirely unsustainable. Just as vertical farming is the future for produce, crickets may be the future for meat. Big claim, I know. But crickets require 2,000 TIMES less H2O than cow production plus have MORE protein & LESS fat. Check out this graphic...
I tasted cricket flower based chips and cricket flower based brownies. Both mediocre, but saving our planet is quite worth it. Check out Chirps Chips if you are ready to take the plunge into crickets.
