One of my professors had a wrong date of birth on his wikipedia page and when he fixed it a wiki editor changed it back because ‘the subject of an article can’t change the article as they’re not a neutral source’. Which is understandable for the body of the article but incredibly funny of this editor to be pedantic about a university professors birthday

A lot of people in social justice say “trans women can be problematic too” like it’s an important message the public needs to hear, which is completely backward because we already live in a society with a deep mythology about the depravity and villainy of trans women

There’s really no way to argue that “not all trans women are innocent angels!” without insinuating that you think society lets transfems get away with too much, that we need taken down a notch, knocked off our high horse. It is inherently transmisogynistic

In order to debunk an idea you have to suppose that idea has some kind of prevalence and influence, that it’s an accepted norm that deserves being challenged

This is particularly relevant when someone criticizes a trans woman’s bad behavior with a framing that suggests that all the trans women in the audience need to learn a hard lesson about not seeing ourselves, as a group, as innately harmless

We literally have lawmakers treating us like rapists for wanting to use a public restroom, what planet do TME people live on

Transfems seem to be expected to disavow and apologize for the wealthy/privileged/bigoted members of our social category in a way I think we would otherwise see as unfair in a ton of other cases
