Petition to rename New Jersey to Jamrock
Theyre called draculas because they drank u. La
Did anyone else hear just one single angelic note
the genius of megamind (beyond the obvious genius ofc) is that it's superman parody actually presents a genuinely unsettling depiction of the "hero" that I like wayyy better than "what if superman was evil" or "what if superman was wrong"... it's "what if superman didn't care"
I wouldnât say he âdidnât careâ more like he was burnt out
He played the role since he was a child and now is in his what 30s? 40s?
He knew there was never any real danger with Megamind in charge so decided to pursue something thatâs a passion and doesnât come naturally easy to him
but it was still a dick move
(via @uwugenides )
One of the things that always jumped out to me about this reveal is that it implies that Metro Man was also the very first person to recognize that MegaMind wasnât really evil. He knew his nemesis wouldnât actually hurt anyone if he won, he knew that this universally reviled pariah never really had any more choice than he did.
The rest of Metro City treats MegaMind like a real, sincere, serious threat once heâs unopposed, and it takes them a while to learn otherwise. But Metro Man? Heâs not surprised to see him and Roxanne working together, he doesnât act like thereâs any kind of threat beyond his cover being blown. He wastes no time in coming clean once the catâs out of the bag. Heâs been working with this guy all his life. Besides his own mental health, I get the impression that he also recognized that this would be good for MegaMind too.
I just really love how in a superhero pastiche that asks âIs the villain really so bad, and the hero really so good?â the answer is âno, but thatâs okayâ. Itâs okay that Metro Man isnât a paragon. Itâs okay that he has to take care of himself. Itâs okay for him to step down and live his own life. It wouldnât be okay for him to leave people in danger, but itâs pretty clear he knew he wasnât doing that.
And it carries to the end. MegaMind becomes the cityâs new protector, but itâs clear that heâs still got some issues to work through, and heâs getting help working through them. Heâs got a support network, heâs willing to put in the effort, but heâs not the shining paragon Metro Man was believed to be. And he doesnât NEED to be that paragon. Heâs still good. Heâs still protecting people. And heâs not alone in it.
God, thereâs just so many shitty âSuperheroes would have character flaws too, and thatâs why theyâd actually suckâ deconstructions floating around, itâs nice to see a story that acknowledges that no one can live up to that kind of role, but thatâs okay!
megamind once again proving to be the best modern superhero movie

Fuck it, animated remake.
Post cancelled it turns out Lower Decks is really good
in broad strokes in shares the similarity of being an irreverent high-concept sci-fi show featuring a main cast of unimportant delinquents who contrast with the high stakes going on around them, but replace the suffocating cynicism of rick and morty with honest to god passion for something and writers who are exactly as clever as they think they are (very) with no delusions of godhood. itâs the first star trek show thatâs made by people who like and understand star trek since Voyager
hey you guys my friend just told me i have a stain on my shirt (embarrassing) and hes put his finger on the shirt to indicate where it is. Im gonna look down so i can asses the stain situation
Parts of the country where self-service gas pumping is illegal.
I didnât know about New Jerseyâs law so imagine my shock when a pump jockey sprinted at my car and kicked my door shut when I tried to get out to get gas. I rolled down my window and asked him âIs there a law against pumping your own gas or something?â And he looked at me like IâM nuts and just said ââŠyes?â
okay but imagine this in the reverse. when i left new jersey as a driver for the first time and sat in my car for about ten minutes wondering where the attendant was until a nice man tapped on my window and just said the words âNew Jersey?â and when I nodded he told me to get out of the car so he could teach me how to pump gas (and nicely didnât laugh at me when I shot gas out of the nozzle across the side of my car).
me and the boys (all from new jersey) went on a road trip out of state and had to get gas and it ended up being sort of a Group Puzzle for the gang as we huddled around the gas pump and nozzle and tank and whatnot. just picture five people standing around the gas tank opening like its part of an escape room. it was very silly.
I think itâs great that cats are arguably at their cutest when their eyes are all bigstyle. because that often coincides with crime and misbehavior. very cute
combine it with FLAT MODE for the ultimate cuteness before Crimes Committed
