Kōno Michisei - Self-Portrait (1917)

Kohno Michisei, seen here at twenty-two, presents himself in a pose modeled on Western Renaissance master Albrecht Durer's (1471-1528) self-portrait produced in 1500. Between 1914 and 1924 a remarkable quantity of high-quality portraiture was produced by Japanese artists who blended Western and East Asian painting traditions. While some of these painters had first-hand knowledge of Western painting, most, like Michisei, culled their images from books and magazines. The young artist was raised in an environment filled with powerful iconic images. His father was a portrait photographer, an artist in both Japanese and Western modes, and an active member of the Russian Orthodox Church. These influences are readily apparent in this self-portrait. Michisei's perceptive understanding of classic Western images was based on constant perusal of his father's extensive library; a portrait's potential for psychological and spiritual impact was impressed on him through exposure to religious icons used in the Orthodox liturgy. But I can google image search with the best of them, and my forensic investigation reveals this is probably a Ford Super Duty. You can tell by that weird recessed badge thing.

Now while the overall height of the F250 is a known and easily comparable 81.3 inches (6ft9 or 206cm) our video does not show us the roof, so we have to work with the top of the wing mirror. This was much harder to find. The best I can come up with is this guess:

Unfortunately Geno slouches a little to avoid said wing mirror, but I think we can call it the top of his shoulder (or his special Sid snuggling spot):

This means we can now carefully and precisely calculate his true height using the power of mathematics, in which I have absolutely no qualifications:

Adding on one more head gets us to 205cm (ish) - a whopping 6ft9 - as tall as an F250, and wayyyyy taller than his official stats (6ft3). But, what if he's been lying all this time to make Sid feel better? I offer as possible proof:

So to add to this (and using a different reference point) I believe the coach they are walking past is a Prevost H3-45 which has an overall height of 146", with the midway point being at the curve of the rear brake lights

Using Rakell as a reference (who I calculate to be a little over 6'2" which agrees with his recorded 188cm) I think a slouching Geno is about 1/28 taller then Rakell

Which puts Geno (once again while slouching) at around 6'5". So I'd guess he's probably 6'5.5", so significantly taller than his billed 6'3".
