Tomodachi Life: Living The Dream - Personality Chart
Feel free to save and share around. This is just a simple cheat sheet to get the personality you want fast. I made this based on the European localisation btw, the US one should take the same inputs but the descriptions for the personalities might be different. I unno. Enjoy
a lot of people seem to say that claude is just bad at hiding the fact that he's almyran. which, yeah, he's not the world's leading expert on hiding an identity, but he's not terrible. however i would like to argue that he doesn't want to keep it a secret. part of him wants so badly to share himself with others, to be open, and not be afraid of the consequences.
he only hides parts of himself out of necessity in the first place. he's not doing it out of malicious intent or anything crazy like that. and the slip ups that he does make throughout the game? i'd bet those are just little indications of him wanting to stop hiding.
there's his supports with hilda, primarily their A support with the story about the camel. while it doesn't necessarily have to been an obviously almyran story, he still chooses to specify it's from a "foreign land". i've also talked about how he makes that comment about "claude" being a common name to use as a fake name and how dumb that was to say. and yeah it was a dumb comment to make in front of the people he did, but clearly it turned out fine. my point there though is that he says things that he probably shouldn't be saying. i think that's clear. but claude also isn't the type of person to accidentally say stuff like that.
mainly i've always got the impression that claude just really wants to be himself, and rightly so. if you're attacked for your very identity your whole life, i think it's reasonable enough to be desperate enough to want to express it any way you can. even if the people around you don't realize. that's what i think claude is doing.
could he have been smarter with what he said? sure, maybe, but a grand total of two people canonically know and only one of them actually figures it out. that would be balthus, who's in a semi-similar situation anyway. byleth was just told because duh, but no one else figures it out and brings it up. sure i think linhardt totally would but intsys hates us. so they didn't give us that. but anyways. claude just wants to be himself and that's great and it's terrible that he feels like he can't.
Atsushi: Did you seriously just break into my apartment? (¬_ ´¬ )
(Oh what I'd give to have gotten a scene like this in 129.5)
IRIS HOW ARE U FEELING ABT THE NEW CHAPTER (me personally I’m. Not doing well.)
Honestly? I'm pretty chill?
(I accidentally read a few comments pertaining to the chapter as people were reading it before the translation came out, and it made me worry a lot. But honestly, it's not half bad?)
Extensive breakdown on my thoughts on chapter 129.5 under the cut
since part 1 of the mangas coming to a close (fly high fyodor 😢😢💔) i thought i should do some drawing about the transfer
not sure what to think about the whole dazai being transferred theory but i just went along with it for this
the colouring on this is certainly not my fave but whatever
BSD 129 SPOILERS ///////
Ok now that I've had time to sit with the new chapter...
Tsujimura fans stay winning. I hope this means we'll get more of her in the main manga.
The thing that surprised me most about this chapter was that Fukuchi was still kicking. I thought he died when Amenogozen was defeated.
We got Dazai and Kunikida appearing in the new chapter, not interacting unfortunately but I'll take what I can get
Ok now about Fyodor's death
As much as I agree it does feel a little anti-climactic for a character who has been pulling the strings as the main threat for like 100 chapters now... I also kinda love it?
Ever since his ability was revealed I've seen people theorize that Dazai would be the one to kill him because his reincarnation wouldn't work with No Longer Human. For a while I agreed with this bc it made sense plus it felt like a fitting conclusion to their rivalry. It would've made for a very satisfying end to Fyodor's character.
While what we got wasn't perfect I think its good in its own way.
1: While I think this case is the exception, relying on Dazai as the answer to ability related problems can kinda feel like a copout. I appreciate how they took advantage of an actual loophole in Fyodor's ability to kill him. Its reminds me of how Francis was defeated at the end of the Guild Arc, his ability relies on him spending money? If he runs out of money he wont be able to use his ability anymore. Fyodor takes over the body of whoever kills him? He cant do that if the body he takes over dies before his ability kicks in.
Appreciate Dazai still being involved in Fyodor's defeat even if he didn't kill him directly, he figured out his weakness and helped Fukuchi get just one step ahead of Fyodor.
2: I wasn't sure about Fukuchi being the one to defeat Fyodor at first. But I like it more the more I think about it. Fyodor has been using Fukuchi as his pawn for like 60+ chapters. Fyodor weaponized Fukuchi's trauma from war against him by lying about a future war to get him to do what he wants, including using his hidden resentment towards Fukuzawa to drive them further apart, and sending the Hunting Dogs after the Agency when they were framed for terrosim. Then after all that Fyodor continued to use him as Amenogozen.
Fukuchi has been under Fyodor's control since he was introduced, even until his "end" before becoming Amenogozen he was still believing Fyodor's lie of a future war. Yet he's the one thing Fyodor didn't account for because Fukuchi likely should've been dead. To have the one character who Fyodor has used the most be the one to end him is poetic.
I like that fukuchi got an actual ending. He did horrible horrible things blindly following fyodor. He assumed he was doing it all to prevent some future war, he didn't know that was a lie. He should have known, maybe he did know but couldn't risk it being true. So when all the spirits were released from gozens realm, I knew he would be back. And we finally got the parallels between the two of them. Fyodor, this unfeeling hateful man who claimed to love humanity. Fukuchi, the truly deeply emotional man who killed thousands to save humanity. They're both very smart people, but love and good triumph in this story. Fukuchi is ending fyodor and paying for his own crimes as well. I bet we'll get one more dying panel of him saying this is for the best next chapter I can just sense it. But the point is THEMATIC DOUBLE SUICIDE!!! Andnit wasn't even dazai.... i love seeing two main villains FINALLY interact on screen and show how even fyodor, the fyodor we all feared, has a simple foil. A simple death.
I am not immune to Hugh Morris propaganda
Besides the funny weirdness, you know what kind of vibe it's very important to me they retranscribe in the new Tomodachi Life?
This one:
This... Slightly creepy, eerie vibe when you play that game at night? In SOME of the dreams, but also in the miis standing outside with no music, just night noises, and not the pretty ones but the wind in the distance that feels slightly threatening, and the "erasing face" thing also...
If feels both scary but also cozy. Like there's mysteries and existential dreads looming somewhere, but no immediate danger.
There was something similar in acnl that acnh could hardly imitate ; notably the weirder dialogues at night, the club...
Maybe a lot of it comes with the weirdness of pixilated screen that is hard to replicate in smoother designs? But still, there's all these details they could at least put an effort in.
I hope they recapture that essence better in Tomodachi Life than they did in acnh
So if BSD is going to conclude Part One with Ch.130, does that mean Fyodor's backstory will be revealed in the second part?? Will the Order of the Clock Tower make their debut?? Is Naomi's past going to be relevant later in the story?? Will we see Paul Verlaine more now that he is out of the basement?? Also who will get transferred to Port Mafia from ADA?? If Atsushi gets transferred, will it be Beast 2.0?? Will Chuuya and Atsushi finally interact??
I have so many questions. Atleast we are getting out of that fucking airport for now
Crossing my fingers that we finally see the PM transfer as a major component of part two's plot because AAAAA there's SO MANY directions it could take and I am *dying* to find out what Asagiri is cooking
Now I don't want to be dramatic or anything but if we aren't seeing Just The Two Of Us (reprise) in the 130 pages bsd part 1 finale you'll be seeing me on the news
what if Nikolai just noclipped while using his ability
I apologise in advance for the person I will become when we get Kunikida’s backstory.
I am going to be insufferable. I am going to find every single person who’s ever said his only trauma is being a maths teacher and hunt them for sport.
“Oh but Star how do you know Kunikida has a tragic backstory?”
Have you fucking met the guy? No one that willing and ready to sacrifice himself at any given moment like he is doesn’t have issues.
Not to mention every conflict that Kunikida’s in revolves around psychologically breaking him.
And oh yeah this is Bungou Stray Dogs, the series where every one has a tragic backstory.
Even Chuuya’s fucking pink bike from the opening of Dead Apple that we saw for like a minute has a tragic backstory.
Be fucking for real this is the “people who struggle with living” series and you think Doppo “I had to be dragged out of a room filling with of poisonous gas because I put saving others over my own life” Kunikida of all people is the exception to that??
THIS!!! Literally can't wait to see what Asagiri's cooking up for the eventual reveal ahhhhh
