Disclosure Day (2026)
They did NOT have to go so hard with the panel design in the latest Moon Knight but God I'm glad they did. Look at all of this.
The lines, the use of negative space, the skyscraper windows dividing the panels only for the characters to pop out in the last frame, the rearview mirror being used to frame MK's approach. The TRUNCHEONS, the fire escape, seeing Marc's heartbeat on the page as DD notices it.
If you're not reading Marc Spector: Moon Knight (or any of the other Mackay MK runs) you absolutely should. The artists are having SO much fun.

One time I was at a pub trivia night with some writer friends and we almost won but there was a tie. As a tiebreaker they asked us and the other team to write down as many moons of Jupiter as we could in two minutes.
None of us are very into astronomy so at first everyone was like oh we’re gonna lose but there were three of us at the table that night who were either former classics majors or otherwise super well read on Roman mythology and the three of us were like give us that paper right now and we just took turns writing down all of the lovers of Jupiter from mythology that we could.
So of course we won lol
You really never know what random niche knowledge you have will come in handy at trivia night. You really don’t.
A DEEP-SEA ANEMONE BUILDS A HOME FOR ITS HERMIT CRAB HOST
Japan researchers have identified a new species of sea anemone, Paracalliactis tsukisome, which engages in a sophisticated symbiotic relationship with the hermit crab Oncopagurus monstrosus, collected at 300 m depth, in the Sea of Kumano. Unlike typical anemones, this soft-bodied animal performs an astonishing feat of bio-engineering: it secretes a hard, shell-like structure named carcinoecium.
-Enlarged view of the column of Paracalliactis tsukisome, indicating the tubercles forming a weak corona.
This relationship is mutualism, where both partners reap significant benefits. Stable isotope analyses revealed the anemone feeding strategy: it consumes suspended organic particles from the water and, remarkably, recycles the host crab's faeces. This efficient use of available nutrients is a key adaptation to the deep sea. In return, the hermit crab gains a substantial survival advantage. Data shows that crabs in this partnership grow larger than their relatives, a direct indicator of improved fitness and health, all thanks to the superior housing provided by their symbiotic partner.
3D micro-computed tomography scans showed that the anemone attaches to the shell in a consistent, unidirectional pattern, always positioned near the aperture. It is likely adaptation to optimize access to food resources and facilitate the precise secretion of the hermit crab. The discovery provides the first quantitative evidence for mutualism in such shell-forming associations.
The specific name ‘tsukisome’ is a classical Japanese word referring to a pale pink color, historically associated with the hue of the Japanese crested ibis. It appears in a poem within the Man'yōshū, the oldest surviving anthology of Japanese poetry. In this poem, a kimono dyed in ‘tsukisome’ symbolizes half-hearted or fickle affection, with the poet declaring, ‘I won’t meet you with a half-hearted affection like the pale pink hue of a kimono’. This name aptly reflects the new species’ pale pink coloration while ingeniously inverting the poem's original meaning. Rather than symbolizing fleeting feelings, the name evokes the deep, faithful, and species-specific symbiotic bond between the anemone and its hermit crab host.

You should read The Last Girl Scout
Did you know that I, award-winning speculative fiction author Natalie H. Ironside, have written like a real book that you can buy and hold physically in your hands? Exciting!
The Last Girl Scout is a dystopian adventure story about queer hillbillies going on a big adventure in the irradiated ruins of Old America. If you liked Fallout or S.T.A.L.K.E.R. or all things American Gothic then I got five bucks says you’ll like this. Plus it’s got lesbians in it &and they are in love & they even hold hands.
The past lies like a nightmare over the world. Two hundred years after the War when atomic fire rained from the skies and burned the world to cinders, human civilization has had time to rebuild within the burned-out husk of Old America. But the old terrors of the past still persist, and while some work to build a better world, others still dream of reclaiming the glory of the Old World. In southern Appalachia, political commissar Magnolia Blackadder is sent on a mission into the irradiated Exclusion Zone of Old DC, where an evil that humanity thought it had vanquished centuries ago is waking up and rebuilding its strength. Along the way, she meets a strange woman with terrible secrets and an unspeakable past, and as they forge a bond and brave the terrors of the wasteland together, she learns that some demons are not so easily exorcised, and that some stones are better left unturned. In this her debut novel, award-winning author Natalie Ironside delivers a new vision of the post-apocalypse, a tale of adventure, terror, love, and that most basic and most powerful of all human desires: Freedom.
“But Natalie,” you say, “of course I want to support queer fiction and read this post-apocalyptic wasteland adventure transbian romance story, but how can I become a part of this true and amazing way?” Well, I’ll tell you!

If you wanna know what other people have said about this amazing and very good hit new novel, fantasy author Dan Shepherd penned this lovely review:
And here’s an interview where I sat down with Fellow Worker Bundnik from the IWW’s Upstate New York GMB to talk about my very cool book in particular and leftist speculative fiction in general:

I just finished reading this & y'all it is SO GOOD
Shucks ❤
I’m about eight chapters in and I’m not entirely sure what I actually expected this book to be, but whatever that was, it’s better.
Fun fact: I scored significantly lower on my trial exams than I could have because I couldn’t put down this book. No regrets.
I’m halfway done and really enjoying it! Zombies, vampires, transgender leads, Nazis getting shot. What more could you want from a book?
You heard it here first, folks
FW Ironside is excellent at grappling with multiple complex ideas in a pretty didactic fashion and writing compelling pulpy action. The Book Fucks
Hey, anyone who follows me and likes good books, y’all should read this one I still haven’t finished it yet but in my humble opinion it’s fuckin excellent
Y’all should read this book! It’s so good my unable-to-focus ass read it in one sitting!
If there’s anyone following me who hasn’t read The Last Girl Scout and has any interest at all in post-apoc, political intrigue or queer fiction, I’d strongly recommend giving Natalie’s book a try. It’s a compelling character-driven adventure brought to life by it’s diverse and believable cast. Characters come from a wide range of backgrounds- ethnicities, religions, sexualities and genders, all written as natural and integrated parts of multi-faceted beings, neither token asides to check off diversity boxes nor flat caricatures defined by singular traits, but complete and realistic, reflecting the same type of diversity of experiences the real world has to offer. The transbian romance that makes the beating heart of the story is complex and layered, and the queer issues it discusses go beyond the simple “queer pain” narrative that dominates mainstream queer lit, showcasing a broad and diverse range of experiences. The political elements, while a tad heavy-handed at times, weave a brilliant and fleshed-out example of a functioning society where a broad range of leftist views and factions work together towards common goals. Leftists of all stripes might want to give this a read if solely to draw inspiration from the depiction of pan-left cooperation.
In both the personal and political, Natalie repeatedly echoes the theme that while the ghosts of the past may shape the present, they do not define the future- only our choices to move forward do. But those choices are not made in a vacuum, and ultimately moving forward to a future worth having can only come from acknowledging the past, owning up to your sins and making a conscious effort to make amends for the harm you’ve caused.
Also it has spooky draculas and if I haven’t at least mildly intrigued you by this point idk why you’re even following me lol
shucks ❤
I brought a copy with me to fight camp and read it on the flight. I’ll probably read it again before fight day. I fucking loved it.
I finally read this and it’s a heartwarming tale of communists and anarchists working together to merc Nazis; I recommend it highly
Golly <3
relentlessly funny to me when people treat a relationship between someone in their 30s and someone in their 40s as "age difference". bro i cannot tell you which of my friends are 34 and which are 44. i can probably tell you which ones aren't 30 yet, but it's probable some of them are 50 now and i didn't notice. if you're over 30 and don't have kids, it's kinda all one age until you can collect social security.
the idea that restrooms, locker rooms, etc need to be single-sex spaces in order for women to be safe is patriarchy's way of signalling to men & boys that society doesn't expect them to behave themselves around women. it is directly antifeminist. it would be antifeminist even if trans people did not exist. a feminist society would demand that women should be safe in all spaces even when there are men there.
btw this is maybe the single most key distinguishing feature of the terfy strains of radical feminism, the seed all the rest of it springs out of: they have absolutely no faith in the ability of feminism to actually destroy patriarchy. they do not think feminism can truly build a better world. they cannot really even imagine that possibility. they think patriarchy is an inevitable natural consequence of unchangeable biological facts, and therefore the goal of feminism can only be to mitigate the worst effects of patriarchy, not to get rid of it.
they can imagine a society where women get some designated safe spaces without men around. they cannot imagine a society where the presence of men is not inherently a danger to women.

He survived glaze firing, the wick and oil reserve work perfectly as intended, and now he remains in chains, offering light.
Sure! The rock is hollow and covers a small container of oil. There's a hole bored through his hand, leg, ass, and the rock with a wick that dangles into the oil container and feeds fuel into the flame. The wick is in a little glass tube to help regulate burn.
this is actually my favorite notification on this post because genuinely do you know how hard it is to sculpt a butt that is like. proportional but also if it's too flat you can tell that there's major muscles missing under the skin but also it needs to not be too caked or it gets weird, and it is actually a major anatomical landmark and if you mess it up the whole legs are off.
so yeah. his ass. it's barely even visible but im proud of it.
