If people are leaving Wattpad because of the censorship, then coming to AO3 only to beg for censorship what's the point? Itās called Archive of Our Own for a reason, it is ours. For us and by us.
Because apparently it needs to be spelled out, Iām writing out some of the unwritten rules of AO3:
Don't like, don't read - you can have your own opinions but if you don't like it just scroll past, it's that easy. Let it be.
Read. The. Tags. - the tags are warnings of what the story will include. That is your guide. If there is something you're not comfortable with in the tags then scroll past. The AO3 tagging system is genius and lets you filter out the things you donāt like, so you donāt even have to see the stories you might not be comfortable with if you donāt want to. Use the tags.
Do not spread the stories outside of fandom spaces - fanfiction is for the fans. Especially when itās RPF it is not to be referenced or brought up to the people who it is about. They are all very aware that it is made but that doesnāt mean they want to read it or know about it. I donāt care what you say, it is unavoidable and as long as it is not widespread and stays in its own space it is not harmful. It is up to the fans to respect that. (That being said if the people who the RPF fics are about search them up or reference fics themselves thatās a bit different and the rules change a bit.)
Respect the authors - the authors spend their own time writing stories, many of which are genuinely incredibly written and well thought out, for absolutely nothing in return. You get to read pieces of work for free by authors who are doing it for free. Do not go to the comments and complain or say they should have done something else or report because they wrote something youāre not comfortable with. And respect the authors wishes when they say not to share their work anywhere else.
Basically just respect fandom spaces, keep them separate from reality, and mind your own business. Itās so easy.
Itās a very under-appreciated thing to have an archive where people can put their work out for the world to see and make art that can be appreciated and easily accessed by other people on a wide scale, and it needs to be protected.

Whether itās decision fatigue, anxiety fatigue, information fatigue, career fatigue, social fatigue, financial fatigue, or the exhaustion of getting your life back together, give yourself space and grace. Be still for a bit. You deserve to recharge.

bestie boo, let me fill you in on something: if you're going to take any part of 'good grammar' and randomly assign it to She's A Witch! AI, you might as well give up. It's over. You're cooked. Anyone who has spent the last decade or more learning to type properly, anyone who has spent any time writing articles/papers/essays that require you to use 'good grammar' is going to fall into that 'oh no it might be AI' trap.
Stop hunting like it's 1692. You're not going to find Goody Proctor at the ChatGPT sacrament. What you're going to do is exactly what happened back then: harming people who've done nothing wrong.

AO3 Writer Affirmations:
I do not have to reinvent the wheel every time I write fanfiction
I do not have to make every chapter's word count above 1,000 in order for it to be good
It is okay if some things don't make sense
I can write whatever I want
I am writing this shit for free

having a multi year long character obsession becomes like a abstract thought experiment at some point
"why isn't there any fic about xyz?" my love, if you want something to exist, sometimes you will have to create them yourself. you can't wait for someone else to do it for you. only you know what you want best. write that self-indulgent fic. then keep writing more for your own enjoyment.

witch hunts, speculations and accusations harm the writing community as much as ai does. if not more. I donāt want to see another innocent writer get driven away from the community because someone decides to harass and accuse them for using ai just because their fic happens to have āai telltalesā ā the same telltales ai got from having been trained on millions of human-made works to mimic how real humans actually write.
People should not have to share their immensely personal and deeply rooted trauma to justify their interests in fiction, they should just be able to like what they like
Thereās not a price tag or a āyou must be this traumatized to rideā barrier to enjoying whatever, and Iām so sick of people trying to put one up
