Sonic Overdrive AU Part 12: The Eggman Empire
No one really knows how the Eggman Empire keeps gaining or staying in power. Well, some that pay attention do, but it's so intricate and complex that it's less headache inducing to say you don't than try to learn how.
Eggman would spend several years establishing and building a multitude of business conglomerates in order to fund his research, construction, robotics, etc such as MeteorTech, but he is also responsible for the creation of multiple zones, which are given different names in this AU, like Metropolis Zone, A.K.A Automax City, Casino Night Zone, A.K.A Punto Al Mar, and Chemical Plant Zone, A.K.A IonWorks. He uses these facilities and the funding they produce, which is secretly and securely transferred to him, to fund the creation of all his, well, creations. But we're not here to talk about them... today. We're here to talk about the forces (pun intended) of his army.
Badnik Horde: The main bulk of his forces, made up of robots mass produced in his facilities and hidden bases, creating robots like his Motobugs, Eggrobos, Epp Pawns, Buzz Bombers, the E-series, the Shadow Androids, etc. These also include Super Badniks, which are giant Eggbots like the Death Egg Robots. These Eggbots are usually led by the Hard-Boiled Heavies, led by Heavy King, they were previously led by the Metal Fighters before they defected to join Mettalix.
Egg Grandmasters: Now these are the real meat and potatoes in this breakfast feast. The Egg Grandmasters are the gaian, human and Eggbot leaders of the Eggman Empire forces worldwide. Of these, include Sage Robotnik, who serves as third-in-command of the Empire, Professor Stone, second-in-command and Eggman's husband, The Foreman, who runs Automax City from the shadows when he hasn't fled for his safety/been arrested, Lord Mordred Hood, etc.
Egg Sub-bosses: These folk act as the enforcers and subordinate bosses to the Egg Grandmasters, but not all of them. They're put under the charge of individual Grandmasters. For instance, Clutch the Opposum is under Cassia and Clove the Proghorns.
Much like the aformentioned Zones, Eggman has had many different bases he's used as, well, his base of operations. All of them are run by his robots, Sub-bosses and Grandmasters but there's usually an office for him when he's in the area. Some of these bases include;
A hidden base in the desert used as a supply depot by Nephythys
Studiopolis, run by Breezie when she isn't in Punto Al Mar
Of course, all Meteortech facilities, including Crimson Tower, which is run by Stone, and the currently under construction, the Death Egg Mk.III
Of course, you can't have Eggman without his Eggtech and weapons. I already mentioned his badniks, but I haven't mentioned;
Vehicles: Eggman and his forced have made several impressive vehicles over the years, some he personally made like his Eggwalker, Eggmobile and it's Eggpod attachment, and, technically, Final Fortress
Cybernetics: Eggman and his army have developed a slew of different cybernetics for himself, his human and Gaian officers, and even the general public, the latter without the whole rigged to explode thing. The only time he's ever not made his subordinate become a cyborg was with Starline, who he thought he had a real connection with, and Stone, his husband
Uniform: Egg Empire uniforms and any other articles of clothing or accessories provided for Egg Empire members by the Empire come with a variety of different tools and utilities, most being made into every one and others being custom made to the members specifications (within reason), including hardlight armor projection, rocket boots, wrist mounted weaponry, small pocket dimensions for on-person storage, etc.
Weapons: The Eggman Empire produces a variety of different weapons for its forces to use, from Egg Guns, Egg Protocutters, Egg Machine Guns, etc.
The Empire has made many allies over its tenure, either through mutual contract or interest or by aqcuiring said allies to serve the Empire. Some include;
Clean Sweep Inc: Founded by Clutch the Opposum, the company managed to get back into the people's graces by publicly denouncing Clutch and his machinations and going under new management. In secret, however, the company is still run and owned by Clutch as a subsidiary of the Eggman Empire.
The Battle Bird Armada: an army formed by the current members of the Kukku Family, who were in rivalry with the Babylonians of the past. Nowadays they often ally with the Eggman Empire
The Hooligans: A team of mercenaries consisting of Fang the Weasel and two new hires, Jake the Badger and Kai the Hyena. They are usually hired by Eggman to do odd jobs
The Eggman Empire is vast and dangerous, but of course it doesn't come without its fair share of enemies, some of which include;
Guardians Units of Nations: A global military and security force first founded in and mainly operating out of the United Federation and run by Commander-in-Chief Mourner Hewitt, as former Commander Abraham Tower retired three years prior to the AU's current events. G.U.N was actually quite fractured before the current events of the AU, having been thoroughly beaten by the Eggman Empire during the events of Sonic Forces (good time to say I will be revamping some events in Sonic canon for this AU at some point in the future), but have seemingly gotten back on their feet, albeit not without some hurdles.
The Responders: Made in the wake of the destruction of the Restoration HQ, the Responders were made by the members of the Restoration as a way to not only keep with the organizations original goals, but also as a global relief force for those in need. Headed by Jewel the Bettle and Lanolin the Sheep, the Responders work not just to restore different places in the world harmed by the machinations of any evildoers, but aid the people in their times of need and when others aren't able to respond.
The Iron Dominion: Founded by Metallix after managing to trick Sage into removing his obedience module, the Iron Dominion is a smaller, but powerful rival to the Eggman Empire.
Breeze Media: The largest media conglomerate on the planet run by Breezie the Hedgehog, a Gaian media titan with ties to the aformentioned Iron Dominion serving as Metallix's right hand and bride
The Nega Empire: Created by Eggman Nega to both surpass and undermine the Eggman Empire. It is almost exactly like the Eggman Empire, with the exception of being way more ruthless and cruel. It is currently residing in (and stuck in) the Knothole universe).
Starline Industries: A small company started by Starline and is currently sided with the Iron Dominion. It managed to not go under investigation as Starline managed to keep his allegiance with Eggman a secret before his death, which to the public was simply a life lost due to Eggman's shenanigans
The Veiled Circle: A group made up of the rich and powerful, excluding Eggman and his cohorts, Breezy, and other good-aligned characters and organizations, who wish to work in secrecy and expand their power and influence without the public and blatant subjugation of the world, kind of like the Illuminati, the Connections from Resident Evil, the Court of Owls or Providence. They would later become the Onyx City Council in Silver's Timeline
Soleanna Duchy: While the Duchy doesn't fight outside of Soleanna, it does defend itself against any and all Eggman forces, while supporting most that defy him
Prower Robotics: Founded by Tails as he was running out of funding for his own creations, he would create the company as a rival to MeteorTech, offering safer alternatives to MeteorTech aside from weapons manufacturing.
Honey Clothing: Founded by fashion designer, model and mogul, Honey the Cat
And of course, Sonic and all his friends and allies
The Eggman Empire has a deep and varied history in my AU and, at first I was dreading making this but now that I'm finished I can't wait to talk more about it. Next up, we'll be talking about something G.U.N related...
