affirmations they will not kill me at work today. it is not in my job description to get killed. if they did kill me at work that would be weird and probably not worth it for them

Ubume
An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
Today's theme from @aahorrorfest was Gothic, and who better to represent that than my favorite punching bag-- I mean favorite Doctor-- Yujin Mikotoba? The Ubume is the spirit of a woman who's died in childbirth... and it's a spirit Yujin knows all too well
Bonus, picture of me under the cut (shoutout to you @spazz981 for taking it!) Happy Halloween!!
I like to think when it's time for the third test the qiflings (c) will take it together with Loroga (like in Romonon with Eunii and his asshole professor). The tension would be immaculate, because, aside from Coco, Agott also will be having high stakes in the library.
Main plot shenanigans aside, in this case the moral of the arc will be that children are quick to learn prejudices from adults (in Loroga's case his snobbery) so it's important to teach them right things
Something tells me worse, because Eas is one of the key antagonists, so his defeat and/or redemption will take a substantial part of the story (and right now it doesn't seem like we're near the finale). But who knows? Now Vinanna is being developed as someone as harsh as him.
Besides, the dynamic between him and Loroga (or rather the few frames of them interacting) makes me wonder if mangaka tries to establish a parallel to the other recent tandem - Eoleo and Rilifin. In both cases the younger boy in the dynamic seems to have more agency and initiative. Although Loroga isn't like the eerie calculating prince and seems like his desire to learn under the knights morales is more impulsive.
I think my initial premise of the third exam works quite as well, but now Loroga can be may observe the exam along with his (demoted) teacher and meddle with the girls. The moral of children absorbing wrong messages from adults still works in this scenario, so in the end after the conflict is resolved the boy can switch to Luluci or Utowin as his teacher - who, incidentally, seem to undergo fundamental reexamimation of her principles
... But for now, they might as well become a coke and mentos duo and be at their absolute worst!

Are you kidding me??? I had NO idea Loroga was going to be in the new chapter when I was writing the post!!! The hell?

i hope coco keeps her face scar at least for most of the duration of the story because i think it's a very blatant but nice design touch relating to her character arc (someone who has been scarred by the injustices of the world of magic but is still hopeful and brave and cute) but if there was an epilogue or something where she's older and notices it's almost completely faded away.... Sisters let me tell you I would melt into a puddle of tears.

Nasturtium leaves are so pretty, Custas deserves them all ❣️
Everyone here compares WHA to Harry Potter but I myself can't help but draw parallels between the manga and another Adolescent-Magical-Chosen-One book series which is Chasodei. Coco and Vasilisa are as different MCs as they could be (picture a version of Coco with secret cool powers and heritage and who decides to deliberately join Brimhats to save Agott from some evil Brimhat boss who is also her uncle (Brimhat!Adina theory true??)) but the worldbuilding is really similar in vibe. It takes one aspect (time/clocks and drawing) and stretches it to entire magic system. Also Witch Hat couterclock spell is bread amd butter of Chasodei's power system. Both magic systems very theory-based, precise and academical.
Also some parallels between supporting characters. Agott and Fesh were both frustrated by Coco and Vasilisa's ignorance respectively but later become ones to teach them inportant things which bonds them. Tetia kinda combines both Zaharra in her upbeat attitude and Nick who is a dreamer. Tartah and Maar are both "alternative love interest options" and both are good with trinkets. Beldaruit and Rodion (cool grandpas), Qifrey and Miracle have similarities (although the latter doesn’t have the spoiler health condition). Various dangerous tests to prove your powers, cool portals and towers, fancy tools to make magic with, exploration of classism ensue...
Aaaand the mom issues
So, I absolutely adore Witch Hat Atelier (it reminds me heavily of Cardcaptor Sakura and Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles, personally) and I genuinely think it deserves all the praise it receives. However, some of how people talk about it bothers me, such as acting as if it’s saving all the sins of anime, and putting it on such a high pedestal that I can only think that if it doesn’t personally meet every one of their expectations…. They’re going to immediately turn on it! (You can even see aspects of this with how people talk about the knights being sympathetic)
Can't make this shit up. Tumblypoos, what you say about proship elements in classical books?
