New The Day I Took In Dazai manga to be serialized starting next month on Young Ace. Art by Shijiki Sorakura.
My new traditional art of Dazai💔
Go to my AO3 profile! Very soon the first chapter of the BSD fanfic "Wind of Change" will appear there, where I will completely turn Dazai's inner psychology inside out. Stay tuned!
Below you can read a small excerpt: 👇
— We’re losing him!
— Faster!
— Push the epinephrine...!
With these words, the doctors fought to save the life of the most reckless person in the world, according to the Agency.
In the hallway sat Atsushi, Kunikida, and Tanizaki. Later, when word came that his condition had worsened, the other Agency members also arrived. Yosano wanted to help with the surgery, but they wouldn't let her in — "No outsiders allowed." No matter how much she protested, it wouldn't have helped.
Everyone sat in tense silence.
It was hard to believe that Dazai might actually die. Over time, everyone had started treating his antics as something routine, something not to be taken too seriously. But now... now there was only the heavy weight of waiting, pressing down on everyone with uncertainty.

Text:
Verse 1:
In skillful hands, a slot machine,
With elegant steps, a deadly routine,
Becomes a weapon to kill, a weapon to kill, a machine.
Caliber thirty-five, two-seventy shot,
Load up the gun, we're heating it hot,
Let them all know what we mean.
Only a mafioso down to the bone,
Whose soul is already sold and gone,
Must praise the Boss on the throne,
Must praise the Boss on the throne.
Chorus:
A black hat, Arahabaki the God,
A bottle of wine from Meursault, with blood.
A long strand of hair, gravity and the field,
Where everyone's fate is completely sealed,
To lose their lives in the end,
To lose their lives in the end, forever, my friend.
Verse 2:
The Double Black, the strongest duo in the land,
Yokohama's elite, the Port Mafia band.
Dono-Mori tied them up, but chance tore it apart,
The consigliere pawn gave his life from the heart,
Gave his life from the heart.
Paul Verlaine, like an older brother in disguise,
Brought nothing but hell and endless lies,
For A-fifty-one-fifty-eight is a lab test, not a man.
He brought so much pain since it all began,
But failed to deliver the prize.
Chorus:
A black hat, Arahabaki the God,
A bottle of wine from Meursault, with blood.
A long strand of hair, gravity and the field,
Where everyone's fate is completely sealed,
To lose their lives in the end,
To lose their lives in the end.
Fukuzawa and a cup of coffee

Post-stage play depression is real... 💔
BACKSTAGE/BONUS CONTENT from the Bungou Stray Dogs "Cannibalism" stageplay, which deviates from the manga/anime. The bonus content on the BRs for the BSD stageplays are a combination of making-of process videos, random backstage interviews with the cast as they come offstage or are waiting to go onstage, videos of the bonus costume shoots for the photocards sold at the shows, etc.
(translation of video under cut)
THIS 😭
The stage play always gets me for these reasons. Just like Wan, Beast, and Anthology, the stage play is an "alternate" of main BSD. Not all if it may be considered Canon but it IS official content and concepts presented for the characters. Heck, the mayoi games aren't even related to the main universe but it's official content.
I love it all so much, everything feels special and meaningful ❤️
Random things I noticed/thought about while eng-subbing the BSD Fifteen stageplay...
Yes, I'm the one who subbed it! You can watch em here :D + the other stageplays I worked on, Untold Origins and Dead Apple
Let's dive right in!
1. It took me comically long to figure out what Dazai was saying here-
He says a pretty simple phrase ("I'm listening" - きいてます) but he adds a weird "tsun/sun" at the end, and I had NO IDEA what that implied?
I think it might've just been an informal way of saying "I'm listening".
Dazai was honestly one of the hardest parts to translate because of how he adds these weird inflections occasionally, talks EXTREMELY fast, and slurs his words together.
2. I feel like Dazai's "chibikko-kun" is his cutest nickname for Chuuya and is severely underutilised lmao
So chibi ("ちび") is just a slang word for "short" or "small". But if you combine it with "ko" for child ("子"), then it turns into a slightly teasing nickname for children or toddlers, functioning similarly to "ankle-biter", "rug rat", or "tyke" - without outright calling them a "brat".
(I wouldn't call it derogatory since in the first place, "chibi" isn't a very strong offensive word)
There are also different ways to say this, such as "chimiko" or "chibisuke".
Also a small fun fact, "chibisuke" would fit Chuuya better since "-suke" is a traditional ending for male names in Japan, but Dazai uses the more gender-neutral "chibikko"!
3. Another very difficult Dazai phrase... when describing Chuuya's power, he says (although I might be mishearing) - "ome/ume" + "koto" (thing)
I had to translate this by looking at the Chinese subs, which just defaulted to him saying "perfect". However, the actual words that he's saying isn't the Japanese word for perfect (which is "kanpeki"/"完璧")
He may be saying: "A perfect thing" or "A great thing"... but I can never be sure.... I will die without ever knowing...... but I really wanted to know since this is one of the rare times Dazai explicitly praises Chuuya's power.
4. My greatest sin is accidentally typing "sama" instead of "dono" when Kouyou is speaking to Mori - I am so sorry Kouyou.
5. In this scene, Mori actually mentions Fukuzawa. He more accurately says: "Those are the words Natsume-sensei told me and Fukuzawa-dono. This time, I'll prove it."
6. Once again, having no idea what Dazai's actor, Tabuchi Rui is saying here... the end of that sentence legit sounded like "azuzushsidfdj - shou" :,)
That was the first time I had EVER heard that type of "thank you" being said. I had to rely on the Chinese subs again, and settled for "Thanks a lot", lmao.
BONUS:
They must've timed those lyrics perfectly for Dazai and Chuuya's little credits dance. It even ends on them holding hands lmao:
Might make another one of these for Untold Origins and Dead Apple if I feel like it haha!
