I’ll never get over the fact that they played Purple Rain during a (very poorly put together) mileven montage AND during their kiss, and played the Bowie version of Heroes during the CREDITS. Purple Rain is a song that was adopted by the LGBTQ+ community since its release, and it has been used to represent queer love for decades. You don’t just take that song and strip away all of its significance to queer people and recontextualize it to represent a straight ship. And you don’t take Heroes, a song made by a FAMOUSLY QUEER ARTIST, and just throw that in the credits ?? Like a final slap in the face to the queer individuals who watch your show ?? 2026 is not a safe year for the duffers.
