Realising how tragic a Warden Rook romance can be with everyone, but especially Emmrich. His whole life he’s been terrified of death, but he is at least certain Rook will outlive him.

Except one day they aren’t themselves, they can hear the song. And they realise it’s time, it’s their calling come early.

Not only is there nothing Emmrich can do but he’s now too old to follow them into the deeproads, he’s unable to save them and worse still unable to retrieve their body once they’re gone. He has to live his remaining years knowing Rook died down there alone, and he can’t even take comfort in his country’s customs to bury them properly.

One of the reasons I love romancing Emmrich as a Warden Rook is because it's less 'match my freak ' and more 'my freak has recently gotten several orders of magnitude worse than it's ever been, and your freak is stable and pleasant in comparison.'.

I've noticed something while studying Emmrich chara design. Someone in another post already mentioned how his coat was based on skeleton's design (I'm really sorry, it was a great post, I can't find it again). I saw nothing about his particular waistcoat design however, so here we are.

Shape language is very important when designing. This man is all triangles and sharp angles, so his outfit follows the same rule. Triangles work like arrows, pointing at things and give direction to the eyes. This is where I find this design genius (because I like my men being sexy yet subtle about it). With a few more stretched angles, we go from a traditional gentleman waistcoat to... a combo of corset and lingerie. Delicious. Give that chara designer a rise.
