We lost the fucking plot when we started doing "pro vs anti" ship discourse i am SO serious when i say that its literally not that deep and treating it like it is will give you brain rot beyond your comprehension
"Youre in fandom? Are you pro or anti ship ://" i have a full time job and pay taxes in tangible real life bestie
Do you think i give any hint of a shit that some teenager is writing "problematic fiction" on ao3 when inflation is a real thing and passengers tell me to kill myself 7 times a day because i took their shampoo away after they were told no less than 20 times that anything over 100ml cant fly. Do you think i care that tumblr users are doxing each other over fictional character opinions when rent prices are tag teaming me with utilities and car prices and the existential enui of being a trans guy in alberta. Do you think i care. Do you think any of this actually matters. Get real problems i am SERIOUS
The concept of Israel being corrupt or the aggressor is a new concept for many people. Especially those people who grew up in the west/other states that benefit from their colonial past. I don't blame people who have a lot of unlearning to do about Israel but let's talk about some of the stuff you might not know. Israel's occupation of Palestine isn't the only human rights violation under its belt.
Israel had extremely close ties with South African apartheid leaders (surprise surprise) like John Vorster and Percy Yutar. Israel provided arms/anti-riot vehicles to the South African Apartheid Regime through the Zionist Federation. (Wiki)
Israel, despite a weapons embargo by UN Security Council, sent substantial weapons to the Hutu militants who massacred over 1 million Tutsi. The Israeli Supreme Court has also sealed documents detailing these exports despite numerous appeals by activists. (Source).
It has also funded/supplied weapons to the following atrocities: Mayan Genocide 1960-1996, Srebrenica genocide (Israel supreme court also refuses to release documents on this), Occupation of Kashmir and a bunch more (other involvements include Pinochet Coup, Ethnic cleansing of Armenians
Palestinians are not the only people facing racism/discriminations at the hands of Israel. Israel has a running history of discrimination against its Ethiopian Jew population. From questioning their Jewish origins, to giving Ethopian women depo-provera without their consent/knowledge, to the brutal beating of Damas Pakedeh, to secretly disposing of blood donations by Ethiopian Jews (list goes on). (Wiki)
Also did you know that the US, every year, will send thousands of law enforcement personnel to train with the IDF on tactics such as crowd control, use of force and surveillance (Source). Here is an amazing article that talks about how Israeli occupation helps fuel America's problem with police brutality.
Again, for a lot of people, the idea that Israel is evil is very new but the world is more connected than ever before and we can share information to combat all of this. Israel, and its allies (other settler colonial states like US/France/UK) have an incentive to block this information. In fact, when you go through these sources, you'll notice that Israel gets a lot of support/arms/funding from these states so it can carry out these atrocities. Also keep your "whataboutism" to yourself. Any country that does this is in the wrong. Nationalism has no place when discussing human rights violations and its time you changed your stance on Israel and see them for what they are: evil.
I wanna add to this by talking about two groups in the US that are responsible for why this country is so Pro-Zionist. 1. AIPAC (American Israel Public Affairs Committee). If you live in the US you've probably heard of them as one of the many domestic lobbying groups. They've been active since the 70s and like many other domestic lobbying groups, they carry a lot of power. But unlike many domestic lobbying groups, AIPAC works for the interest of a foreign government. So what role do they play in all of this and how does that impact your view on Israel? For one, they play a HUGE role in American policy by pouring millions against progressive candidates. So they will support either Dems or Reps that are challenging progressive candidates. They do this through UDP (United Democracy Project) and AIPAC PAC and through this approach critics of Israel have an extremely difficult time winning seats and that translates into a very right leaning overton window on this occupation. AIPAC is so dangerous and scary that it deserves a post of its own so I'll give you a couple of sources to check out as a starting point on them. (Source) (Source) (Source)
2. CUFI (Christians United for Israel). Surprisingly (or unsurprisingly if you're familiar with how insane Evangelicals are) this is the largest pro-Israel lobby in the US with almost 10 million members (AIPAC has like 3 million btw). It was founded by David Lewis, an Evangelical minister back in the 70s. They do everything AIPAC does times 5 and have a massive presence within the US government. CUFI doesn't stop at congress, they literally have a chapter dedicated to going on Campuses across the country to stop anti-Zionist movements while preaching pro-Israeli propaganda. So why is this right-wing, often anti-Semitic group (please look up John Hagee and read about him for yourself), so pro-Israel? Well it's because evangelicals see Israel’s existence connected to the biblical prophecy about the world ending and Jesus returning. That is the underlying motive. Don't be confused, CUFI is riddled with anti-Semites and they don't care about Jews. For them this is a means to an end but people like Netanyahu or orgs like AIPAC align with them anyway which reaffirms that you can be anti-Semitic and pro-Zionist at the same time.
This post is already super long so I suggest reading up on both these groups so you can understand how they shape policy and how they fight against those who wanna do the right thing and stand up against Zionism.
AIPAC was able to get Rashida Tlaib censured. Just pause and think about the implications of that for one second. AIPAC, which works for the interest of a foreign government, has enough pull on both (Rep AND dem) sides to silence the only Palestinian congresswoman. Our reps are taking blood money from an organization perpetrating a literal genocide.
If you wanna see these numbers for yourself, HERE is a link. See if your rep is on this list. Stay informed.
I don't think people truly understand how horrifying this is. Our reps/Presidents literally take money to promote the interest of a foreign nation. Just take a look at this. Btw Biden is the highest paid senator AND Presidential candidate by AIPAC. This screenshot is from open secrets. Feel free to go through that link for yourselves.

Queer Slur Heritage Post
We failed as a society when everyone stopped wearing headphones.
At my parents place with 2 children watching YT on tablets and 2 adults watching tiktoks and reels on their phones and trying not to summon a comically sized Loony Toons hammer out of my back pocket to smash them all.
I'm rebloging this twice im tired of people not wearing headphones when watching videos in public. It's basic etiquette to wear headphones in public when you listen to things.

wow i wonder if that 300 year gap could be explained by any outside factors…….whoa! for some reason it lines up with the timeline of britain’s invasion and subsequent colonization of ireland! wild, huh? i wonder if the two are connected in some way? i guess the world will never know….
“why do the Irish hate the English so much? It couldn’t have been *that* bad!!”
This was in place till 1973.
Seeing non irish people reblogging this makes me happy
The stereotype of “the Irish are drunks” is English propaganda used to justify paternalism and controlling the Irish. It’s bullshit.
Hey guess what alcohol is often used as a coping method by poor and disenfranchised people in order to get away, if only for a few minutes, from the absolute shithole that is their lives
I WONDER WHY a group that wasn’t permitted to own media, have privacy in their own homes, go to church or any other desired social gathering, and which was considered guilty until proven innocent might have turned to alcohol.
I also wonder why that might have happened at a time when drugging your children with alcohol would quiet their starving screams because the English stole all your food and you had nothing left to feed your babies.
I WONDER.
(In other words any time you see the accusation of “they’re all drunks” leveled at any particular group, it’s a good time to ask what the Irish, Native Americans, Black men, American men in general in the 1930s, Soviet Russian men, and Indians have in common. If you came up with “oh! Absolutely crippling levels of poverty in the face of a government that either valued profit over lives or actively oppressed them, and an inability to change this due to the structural nature of said oppression,” congratulations, you know a depressing amount about history.)
i dont think green day is “good”. i do have 15 separate green day albums on vinyl and think billie joe armstrong gets pegged like crazy and also im the son of rage and love the jesus of suburbia the bible of none of the above on a steady diet of soda pop and ritalin no one ever died for my sins in hell as far as i can tell at least the ones i got away with and theres nothing wrong with me this is how im supposed to be in the land of make believe that dont believe in me get my television fix sitting on my crucifix the living room or my private womb while the moms and brads are away to fall in love and fall and debt to alcohol and cigarettes and mary jane to keep me insane doing someone elses cocaine and theres nothing wrong with me this is how im supposed to be in the land of make believe that dont believe in me
Why they're smearing Lina Khan
My god, they sure hate Lina Khan. This once-in-a-generation, groundbreaking, brilliant legal scholar and fighter for the public interest, the slayer of Reaganomics, has attracted more vitriol, mockery, and dismissal than any of her predecessors in living memory.
She sure must be doing something right, huh?
A quick refresher. In 2017, Khan — then a law student — published Amazon’s Antitrust Paradox in the Yale Law Journal. It was a brilliant, blistering analysis showing how the Reagan-era theory of antitrust (which celebrates monopolies as “efficient”) had failed on its own terms, using Amazon as Exhibit A of the ways in which post-Reagan antitrust had left Americans vulnerable to corporate abuse:
https://www.yalelawjournal.org/note/amazons-antitrust-paradox
The paper sent seismic shocks through both legal and economic circles, and goosed the neo-Brandeisian movement (sneeringly dismissed as “hipster antitrust”). This movement is a rebuke to Reaganomics, with its celebration of monopolies, trickle-down, offshoring, corporate dark money, revolving-door regulatory capture, and companies that are simultaneously too big to fail and too big to jail.

“These talking points got picked up by people commenting on Judge Jacqueline Scott Corley’s ruling against the FTC in the Microsoft-Activision merger. The FTC was seeking an injunction against the merger, and Corley turned them down flat. The ruling was objectively very bad. Start with the fact that Corley’s son is a Microsoft employee who stands reap massive gains in his stock options if the merger goes through.“
“This is surreal: a judge ruled that a corporation’s radical, massive merger shouldn’t be subject to full investigation because that corporation itself set an arbitrary deadline to conclude the deal before such an investigation could be concluded.“
Two points that stood out to me about the microsoft/activisiion judgement recently.

You might think that I'm joking when I say that we need cyborg rights to be codified into law, but I honestly think that, given the pace of development of medical implants and the rights issues raised by having proprietary technologies becoming part of a human body, I think that this is absolutely essential for bodily autonomy, disability rights, and human rights more generally. This has already become an issue, and it will only become a larger issue moving forwards.
