one of my favorite things about campaign 4 is the un/intentional allegory of dol-makjar, a city of orcs who can see in the dark because of darkvision, getting overtaken by humans who "wield the light" and have absolutely no darkvision. and it got really hammered down in episode 31 when the sons of the dawn and the grey tower guard were surrounded by magpie orcs and the wind snuffed out all the lights.

this speaking as a cis person. Nothing brings me more joy seeing people find gender euphoria in becoming a mediocre representation of humanity. And I mean that so genuinely. Local boy finds joy and fulfillment wearing a cargo shorts and t-shirt combo. Local girl has transitioned to look like someone's disheveled aunt, has never been happier. Local person experiences gender euphoria rocking the world's worst bowl-cut. Without a scap of irony, this shit makes me see the wonder and whimsy in just, being a human. An average, person going through their day-to-day, is a wondrous thing? That's amazing. And heteronormativity has stripped these experiences of their joy. Like you're right, wearing a basic girlypop skirt should make my heart sing. Why not? Why are these expressions lesser because they're normal? All this to say. julien and thaisha are characters with an extremely interesting dynamic because they are two people constantly in conflict, with hugely different worldviews that cause sparks (derogatory) when they grind up against each other, but even as early as the very first episode of the campaign, in the middle of a pretty intense argument, julien said to her "I don't hate you, much as you might hate me" and thaisha replied, "i don't hate you. much as I want to." they're very different people, but also surprisingly similiar. they don't like each other, but they do NOT hate each other. and at the end of it all: they trust each other
