This is a summary of college only using two pictures; expensive as hell.

That’s my Sociology “book”. In fact what it is is a piece of paper with codes written on it to allow me to access an electronic version of a book. I was told by my professor that I could not buy any other paperback version, or use another code, so I was left with no option other than buying a piece of paper for over $200. Best part about all this is my professor wrote the books; there’s something hilariously sadistic about that. So I pretty much doled out $200 for a current edition of an online textbook that is no different than an older, paperback edition of the same book for $5; yeah, I checked. My mistake for listening to my professor.

Noi

Recently, one of my cats, Noi, has gained a limp in one of his front paws. When we took him to the vet, they told us that he has calluses growing in the joints. It could be an indication of arthritis, or (surprise, surprise) cancer. One untreatable, the other has a treatment with a less than 95% chance of survival and pain (we're not putting him through that). The only thing we can do for him is give him pain killers. The vet told us that it will get worse, but it can be take a year. Obviously, we are devastated about this.

That was three weeks ago. Now, my mom and her partner are out of town for ten days (a trip that they were unable to reschedule) and they are back in four. Noi's getting worse. What started out as a limp is now a hobble. His other paw is starting to bother him, which we expected. He's eating less and throwing up more. He won't let anyone pet him anymore unless it's right after he had his pain killers. He is getting so thin you can feel his spine. He is in so much pain that he can't find a comfortable position to sleep in. We expected this much, but seeing it, hearing him cry out in pain. It breaks my heart because I know that sooner than we hoped for, we're going to have to make a difficult decision. And I'm selfish for waiting for my mom to come back because don't want to be the one to make that call. At the same time, she should be here for this, and I still haven't told her. How can I, when she's across the country, unable to do anything but worry and cry? How can I tell her that our cat will mostly likely not make it to the end of the month, while she's taking a break for the first time in a long time?

And the reason I'm writing this out here for strangers rather than talking to someone I know is because I have no one that I could call at one am and cry to. I have friends, but no best friend. I have a sort of boyfriend, but he always changes the subject back to him and his problems. I don't know what to do and I feel like I'm drowning. Especially when I see him in so much pain and all I can do is lie with him on the floor.
