go on more walks. walk for no reason. walk to solve a problem. walk to blow off steam. walk to get outside. walk to listen, read, and learn. walk to escape distractions. walk to improve your health. walk to think. a simple walking habit can change absolutely everything.

People on Tumblr love to subvert something that is already subverted and wind up with the normal thing again.
"I would never-"
You would if you were tired enough. You would if you were hungry enough. You would if your mind and body had been worn down enough, through pain or disease or toil or violent struggle. You might if you were put on the wrong medicine, or you got the wrong kind of head injury, or you were forced to choose between someone else and yourself. You might if your livelihood was staked on it, or all your hopes and dreams. You might if you didn't know what else to do, if it's what you were taught or if nobody taught you anything else.
I have not been worn down in most of these ways. I have lived a remarkably privileged life. But I have been worn down in some ways. And they were enough to teach me that in the wrong circumstances, any of us can become someone we don't want to be. It's worth keeping that in mind.
[gripping the sink] perfectionism does not help me avoid embarrassment or shame. perfectionism is in itself a form of shame. when i struggle with perfectionism i struggle with shame. when i struggle with perfectionism i struggle with shame. when i struggle with perfectionism i struggle with shame

people talk a lot about how folks have forgotten how to behave in public since the pandemic, how people seem to be generally louder, less specially aware, less socially considerate. and I would agree but I also think people have forgotten how to exist in public spaces and recognize you're never going to have the same level of comfort and control that you have in private, and that's okay. sometimes people are going to be loud and it's not inconsiderate. people are going to laugh and talk to each other above a whisper. sometimes people will have items that take up space; sometimes people just take up more space in general and they can't help it. sometimes you and other people don't have perfect control over your surroundings and over other people, and that's okay and it's not worth getting angry about. if you want an environment where you can have perfect control of the sound and light and objects and people around you. idk, stay in your house?
this is about normal human interaction btw. getting annoyed at someone playing videos or music loudly on their phone is justified, getting annoyed at someone bringing their rowdy dog into a store or a restaurant is justified. yes, people shouldn't be creating public disturbances.
getting mad at a group of friends just talking and laughing in public is weird. getting annoyed at someone putting their grocery bags next to them on the bus is weird. getting mad at kids playing in the park is WEIRD!! these are just normal parts of being in public and existing in a social setting, not everyone has to be quiet and withdrawn for the purpose of being polite. everyone deserves to take up space in public
this is the average tumblr experience
