Encanto headcanon

When Camilo sang about Bruno being 7ft, I think he honestly thought his uncle was that tall. Bruno disappeared when Camilo was very young and sometimes adults look a lot taller than they really are to little kids. Camilo probably remembers always looking up at his uncle and thinks he was nearly 7ft

Great news!!!

I’m going to be starting my own small business in 2021! Throughout this year I’ve started to dabble and experiment with making my own soaps and bath bombs and coming up with different scents and designs and selling to those close to me. Then when I back to college my friends told their friends and more people started wanting to buy so I created a Facebook page to show off my creations and allow people to shop and that’s where I am now. I’m currently in the process of designing my logo and getting insurance for my products, but I’m so excited because I’m planning to open an etsy shop once I get all that fun stuff sorted out. If anyone would like the link to my etsy once I get it set up please let me know and I’ll definitely send it! Unfortunately, right now I can only ship within the US because international shipping is too expensive for me to afford right now, but once I’m able to I will let everyone know when I can ship internationally! I’m just so excited to be able to do this and slowly fulfil my dream of being a business owner! All my products are handmade, hand-painted, and a lot of them let the buyer personalize them to the buyer’s wants. I made a santa bath bomb that was initially the traditional red and cookie scented, but I had some people ask for it to be blue, purple, or green colored with floral or masculine scents so customization is always an option on my products

It’ll always be part of us, you’re right. But sadly, what we do every day on here, won’t possibly last forever. Someday well all be somewhere else doing something else and living our lives, making our own families (for some), building our careers, etc. But we’ll always remember our amazing youth years when we logged on every day and shared all this love with each other. Well always remember this great and loving community, and all the fun we’ve had in it. Well always have our memories and these friendships and these movies and everything they mean to us. And I won’t ever forget this either.

Quick Question for college people

Was there ever a class that was needed for your major that you had A LOT of difficulty with? 

I’m taking a class I need for my major over the summer since I withdrew from it during the spring semester and I’m having a lot of difficulty with it and I’m not used to having this much difficulty in a class...

Something I felt needed to be said

(Might get a little personal on my end but just wanted to get this off my chest)

GUYS WHO DATE FAT GIRLS JUST BECAUSE THEY’RE FAT ARE JUST AS BAD AS GUYS WHO ONLY WANT TO DATE THIN GIRLS

I feel like this is something that doesn’t get talked about, but guys who pressure their big girlfriends to stay fat are just as bad as those who pressure their girlfriends to stay thin. I’m a fat girl myself and I love my body. I love how I look in (most) jeans and dresses. HOWEVER, I also know at the same time I’m also unhealthy because I don’t exercise and what I eat (crab rangoons are life for me). I know being fat does not necessarily mean a person is unhealthy, but I know I am and I’m working on losing weight to get a little healthier. I know I’m probably never gonna reach below 180lbs (I’m around 230lbs now) just because I know my family genes, but that’s fine, I still love myself and how my body looks 

This brings me to my point, I was talking to a guy who liked bigger girls. Well, he liked me UNTIL I told him I’m trying to lose weight. I didn’t start out saying it was for my health (mostly because it’s a common assumption by most people losing weight is for health), but he didn’t like I was losing weight. When I asked why, he said it’s because he liked big girls. Well I told him I’m still probably gonna be big, but he said I wouldn’t be as big as I am now and he likes me how I am. That’s when I told him I’m not healthy and I’m losing weight for my health. Well he still made the argument I wouldn’t be as big so I asked him if he only liked me because of my size. He didn’t hold back and said “Yes, big girls are beautiful”

Long story short, we’re not talking anymore. And this just got me thinking, people talk about guys pressuring girls to stay thin, but never guys wanting girls to stay big, which I feel is just as bad since they’re still trying to control and shape a woman’s body to please them and fit their needs. A thin girl can love her body, but can still recognize her thinness may be unhealthy and the same for a big girl and both can work towards making themselves healthier. But if their partners decide they want to have a thin/fat girlfriend and threaten to leave them because they’re doing something to better themselves and not fit a certain opinion on beauty, I feel that also takes a tole on mental health and makes their weight situation worse. 

So...yeah. Rant done

So this is just a PSA, y'all should never sign a contract until you read it. I’m talking in rl right now. I just got through reading my employee handbook/service contract and my bosses slipped in a lot of bullshit like telling me I can’t complain about my job on social media, demanding I work off the clock in the name of good service, expects me to show up on time during inclimate weather, and considered disability or religious accommodation a direct threat to the company.

These are all things I took issue with and brought to my employer for further discussion before signing the contract. Most of my coworkers signed without reading, treating it like an internet terms of service contract.

Tl;dr real life is serious shit, lawyers write contracts to protect your employer FROM YOU, read contracts before you sign them - fucking ARGUE about contracts before you sign them

Also important to note, and something my bf has repeated to me many times: a contract is a negotiation until it is signed, and YOU ARE ALLOWED TO AMEND IT. Tech companies often put some bs in there about “we own everything you make while you work for us” which broadly applied also means anything done on your own time. He always ALWAYS does write-in amendments with initial and date to state that they only own things done FOR the company, on company time, because there have been companies that enforced that bullshit when somebody had a personal side project the company decided they wanted to steal. There’s only one company that threw a fit at his attempts to amend it and he considered that a huge red flag and refused to sign, turned down the job.

Never. EVER. Sign shit without reading it. Also: if your prospective employer won’t let you take the thing home to read before you sign it and says you need to sign it then and there THAT IS A RED FLAG. The job I had that turned out to be abusive as shit was like that. Every other job I’ve been able to bring the contract home to my parents to have a more experienced set of eyes on it. It’s also common practice in some fields to have one’s attorney look over it before signing. So never let them tell you that you can’t look over it with someone else. That’s a fat load of shit. For “lower level” jobs they may not accept amendments to the contract but if they won’t even give you the proper time to read it over, they’re trying to pull some bullshit on you and you’re going to regret it if you sign. Even if there’s nothing bad in what you signed it’s an example of how they are going to treat you while you’re there. Take it to heart and run like fucking hell.

Yes, I’ve lost out on jobs because I wanted to read it and they didn’t want me to. Or they wanted m to resign and I said no to to the things they added that I pointed out were unfair and borderline illegal. 

Read shit. Tell everyone else to read shit. BE INFORMED.

Never ever ever sign shit without reading and re-reading it! Take it home, show it to someone more experienced, if you can, show it to a lawyer. A contract is supposed to work for both sides. A company in Toronto tried to make me sign a contract with clause that in event of me leaving the job I will not work in a similar position anywhere in Ontario. Yeah, right, not enforceable in court, dudes, you can’t prevent me from making a living. Read the shit and don’t let them intimidate you.

Everything in here is exactly what my business law professor taught us. Also this deals mostly with contracts concerning with moving into an apartment and verbal contacts, but if you ever want to amend something in a contract, ACTUALLY HAVE IT WRITTEN DOWN

If an apartment doesn’t allow pets, but the owner says they know you have a goldfish or anything else, they might say “that’s fine, it’s not like a dog or a cat I’ll make an expedition” have them state this in your contract. Not just for pets but anything they are making an “exception” for. Since many apartments require money up front, if you sign a contract without changing the things you disagree with, the owner can keep that money and claim you breached contract. Granted not everything within a contract can be amended (one of my friends has an apartment that only allows 3 guests due to noise and security reasons, which is reasonable) but if you can, ask a lawyer or someone with experience if an amendment seems reasonable, especially if the owner has said “I’ll make an exception” HAVE THEM WRITE IT DOWN

Verbal contracts are incredibly hard and next to impossible to hold up in court since there’s no documentation, and recording the verbal contract is incredibly iffy since recording laws vary from state to state (my professor recommended don’t record at all and just have it written down for proper documentation) and there’s a chance the recording would be dismissed from court.

Also this is another side note, but unfortunately employers (at least in the US) CAN state in their contracts should your employment be terminated for some reason that you are not allowed to work in that line of work for a certain amount of time or within a certain distance  (this is usually more common in accounting firms, law offices, or wherever business revenue or work is based on client size, but can still happen in other businesses) They do this to help keep competition down and keep their clients dedicated to their business. It’s called a Restrictive Covenant clause and is 100% legal and can be held up in court should you break it

HOWEVER, while it is legal, there are limits and they are only allowed within the contract if they’re reasonable. My business law professor is also a lawyer who works on contracts and, while there’s no true way to control it, she recommended finding a contract that has a distance restriction rather than time restriction. In her firm, should she be terminated she’s not allowed to work for another law firm within the state of WV for a year and this is perfectly legal. However, should her contract have stated she couldn’t work for 10 years in law, this could be considered unreasonable (depending on the court/judge the argument was being presented to) and could be amended should a lawyer also agree that that it is unreasonable.
