"September 21st, 1945. That was the night I died."
GRAVE OF THE FIREFLIES (1988)
Dir. Isao Takahata
Why couldn’t we make the Dr. Seuss books a conversation? A teaching moment? How can we learn from mistakes or examine history if we keep trying to rewrite it or erase it?
What happened?
@kiefbowl Dr. Seuss wrote very little of his actual books, most were written by his wife with him receiving full credit. When she became deathly ill, he had an affair. When she discovered the affair, she killed herself rather than let it come into the public eye, so Seuss could marry his mistress without scandal, which he did. In her suicide note, she wrote something to the effect of “I am too old and enmeshed in everything you are to live without you.”
So yeah
one more evil man who stole his wifes work and killed her
“Helen Marion Palmer Geisel (September 16, 1898 – October 23, 1967), known professionally as Helen Palmer, was an American children’s writer, editor, and philanthropist. She was also the Founder and Vice President of Beginner Books, and was married to fellow writer Theodor Seuss Geisel, better known as Dr. Seuss, from 1927 until her death.
Her best-known books include Do You Know What I’m Going to Do Next Saturday?, I Was Kissed by a Seal at the Zoo, Why I Built the Boogle House, and A Fish Out Of Water.”
Since March 2 is Dr Seuss day let’s make September 16 Helen Palmer day to honor her and other women who’s creative works were claimed by men
Have you considered that a huge percentage of the male suicide rates are from men who killed themselves right after commiting immoral acts? Men who killed their families and offed themselves too. Men who didn't want to face jail time for rape. Men who were outed as predators. The list goes on. Not to say that all men should commit suicide, and there are certainly some sad cases, but no one ever talks about this and it frustrates me.
Nah I’m saying it. All men should commit suicide.
Could you be persuaded to say something you knew not to be true?
I've had a thought regarding photos for missing women.
The normalisation of makeup is putting women in more danger.
If the only photos are of her in makeup, people are less likely to recognise her without it.
Not to mention how easy it is for an abuser/trafficker/kidnapper to hide someone's appearance with makeup. Changing skin tone, facial features, adding birthmarks, etc makes it harder for average people to recognize someone they saw from a missing flyer.
i get high & start actn like joe biden
i feel like "feminist" anti-kink sentiment is very tail-wagging-the-dog. like male doms playing out bdsm scenes of abuse are not oppressing their female subs that's acting. you're mad at acting. you're those aliens from galaxy quest. same with fearmongering about "booktok". however an eroticized version of patriarchal dynamics being a popular kink DOES speak to the pervasiveness of sexism, bc eroticizing the oppression is a way of coping with living under it. it's women creating a fantasy world where men being menacing to them is sexy and not scary like it is irl, or where it is still scary but in the fun way like a horror movie bc you can tap out at any time by using a safe word or putting the book down. acting like this sort of kink is oppressing women is like if you assumed the thermometer controlled the weather outside. it might be depressing to look at the thermometer and see the impact of climate change, but it's not the thermometer's fault
I know y’all are virgins that have no experience with BDSM besides the idealized versions on AO3 between two male characters, but it isn’t pretend.
Doms don’t pretend to strangle their partner, they do that for real.
Doms don’t pretend to hurl misogynistic and/or racist abuse at their partner, they do that for real.
Doms don’t pretend to hit or slap their partner, they do that for real.
Doms don’t pretend to ignore you crying or saying no , THEY DO THAT FOR REAL.
There is nothing safe, sane, or consensual about BDSM.
Forums are FILLED with women that freeze up and can’t safe word. Forums overflow with women saying that their male doms ignored the safe word when they do say it. There are countless women complaining of men that push kinks the woman doesn’t want until she gives in. The are so many accounts of abusers being protected by the BDSM community. There are so many women that think they can’t report their rape and abuse because their BF calls it kink.
There are women who DIE from BDSM.
And anyone that tells you it’s “healing trauma” to reenact your rape is an idiot and/or a liar. You are retraumatizing yourself and will do massive damage in the long run. You’re mistaking the temporary self esteem boost from pleasing a BF with genuine healing. We don’t shoot ex soldiers with rubber bullets to cure PTSD. We don’t do exposure therapy with sexual intercourse as a treatment. And exposure therapy is for IRRATIONAL fears, like people that are so afraid of pears and can’t go grocery shopping. It isn’t for victims of violence!
It’s not pretend. It’s not acting. He is not fantasizing about the CNC negotiation beforehand. He isn’t going to stay safe and sane and your consent isn’t happening in a vacuum.
Most of you defending this shit haven’t even had “vanilla” sex yet. Use your damn critical thinking for 10 seconds.
makes my skin crawl when i hear people say men/boys want "respect" when what they mean is men/boys want deference, submission, obedience. sexual rejection is not disrespect. rape culture!!
"he asked a girl to prom and she turned him down, he was humiliated. he just wants respect 😔" well he should kill himself about it
For context, the next frames were them posing with discharge on the exam chair….. individually & in a group. Honestly they should straight up have their medical licenses’ revoked but what do I know.
An invasive procedure that is already daunting & terrifying for a lot of women due to the barbarism of gynaecology. & now they’re making a mockery out of it online. Imagine being one of the women & you see your shitass nurse doing this. Legitimately who is laughing.
Our bodies are already treated as a medical “mystery” & flat out ignored in the medical field throughout its existence. Now women are being mocked for their bodily fluids after a pap smear/similar. By those who swore to care for patients & supposedly treat them with dignity.
Can we make this go viral?
The latter already is, but i haven't heard of the elderly woman in the UK case yet
I have had personal experiences with medical staff don’t like women abusing their power in women’s hospitals
I don’t get how you can go into a medical field and think patient’s blood on sheets is funny
