also why do people get so annoyed about trigger warnings on tumblr bc seriously you get trigger and content warnings all the time in real life

you get warnings on the back of dvds saying if stuff contains violence or scary scenes because some people - and not just children - will not want to see that kind of thing

on national news stations you get warnings before certain reports if theyre going to contain descriptions of abuse because that might be triggering to some people

and tv stations almost invariably warn for flashing images because they can trigger conditions like photosensitive epilepsy

stop acting as if trigger warnings and content warnings are some new thing that are only used and wanted by “”“overly sensitive people”“” on tumblr

there is nothing “overly sensitive” about not wanting to see certain things because of the effects they have on you

and people have recognised that for years in real life as well as on the internet

men don’t abuse women because they haven’t learned how to cry+show emotions in a healthy way; they abuse women because since birth, through parenting and media and the overall surrounding culture they are taught that women are subhuman, made to exist in the control of men. men exercise this control through violence, with their entitlement translating into epidemic levels of rape and domestic violence.

simply telling men it’s ok to cry wont help women; an abuser can both cry and abuse you know!! society protecting women’s rights and showing zero tolerance towards rape and violence against women will help, and that’s what we should be focusing on instead of engaging with mra types who have no empathy for anyone but themselves

Straight hair is not tied with any cultural or political significance. You can not appropriate straight hair. There was never a day on this planet that a white girl was denied space, opportunity or access to anything because her hair was blonde and straight. Let’s stop pretending and being petty just because someone told you wearing cornrows was offensive. It is not like you don’t have a whole life of privilege waiting for you when you return to straight hair.
