Dreamer I just realized that for how serious the world of arknights is there are some people who just straight up operate on looney tunes laws like Degenbrecher is entirely unintentional due to her ridiculous strength meanwhile arrows are bouncing off Mr Nothing's asscheeks as he skedaddles out of an enemy fortress, the explanation of which is that he learned some kinda obscure kung fu(probably true) from this tome he picked up(scam attempt) and here's this ex-idol goldfish that can scare the LGD head if she really tries is there any other operator that follows this whackass concept? I'm drawing blanks here but I swear there's one more.
NO YEAH absolutely correct:
I have to touch upon Mr. Nothing briefly here to mention that he IS an actual kung fu master and he learned from a legitimate master, Lien. He just doesn’t like fighting because Lien taught him — and only him — her killing moves, and one time, during a duel, he killed his opponent accidentally. He has since then been masquerading as a looney toons character, but he’s actually legit.
Lee, however, spent his entire debut event basically doing a big Mr. Magoo skit where he bumbled and fumbled his entire way through with minimal context of what was going on with the godly Sui and the Lung FBI, and by doing exactly NOTHING, he solved the situation and won. He is not even fully sure what happened by the end.
Utage also had her moment in the limelight when she started fighting entire tribes for fun and became their chief by pure martial might without knowing she did that. She just wanted to fight.
Literally everything about U-Official.
Honestly, Skadi’s introduction is her being a Scooby Doo monster jumpscaring Grani and Big Bob for hours.
Harold and Leto by virtue of being pursued by Degenbrecher cartoon style, which is doubly funny when you consider Harold himself is insanely powerful as well, it just so happened that it was freaking Degenbrecher pursuing him. Also the Trilby Asher.
Not too obvious at face value but Irene herself is pretty cartoon when you consider she, whilst everyone else was fighting with their weapons and graceful techniques, spent around 9 cutscenes in Stultifera Navis doing this nonstop to the Endspeaker and damn well any other seaborn she found:

it's kinda difficult to talk about "cozy games" because that's an aesthetic and not a genre so its very broad, is it cozy to de clutter an apartment or go on a hike, is it cozy to be action packed or melodramatic or blithely unconfrontational, etc. but I think it's accurate to say that coziness is one of many shorthands that have been developed as an attempt to opt out of ideology, be about nothing. of course with a game made to evoke comfort comes a proclamation of what the author's society considers comfy
witch finding a lost cat in the alps was a cultural turning point, cus she spelled that out. expressly pointedly de-politicizing a text, replacing it with a generalized intentionally generic vibe that is implicitly assumed to be outside of politics for its genericism. replacing a white protagonist in a text willing to ruminate on race and power & replacing it with a white protagonist who is white cus it's a fantasy setting and we know what those are supposed to be like, the two races are white and political
For some reason this made start thinking about how the poster’s framing of “a lost cat in the Alps” as a “cozy” conflict is, well… weird? Interesting? Like its conflict is much more low-stakes than a lot of games’ conflicts, but I can’t think of anyone describing having a lost cat as a cozy experience. It can bring strong emotions, like possessiveness, love, anger, fear, helplessness…It’s only with the foreknowledge that the cat will be found that makes it calming and uplifting. The highest stakes can’t make you care when you know that the artist is averse to making you feel uncomfortable. Disco Elysium’s conflict isn’t the most high-stakes, just investigating the death of a guy few players will sympathize while trapped in a local, if aggressive labor dispute… the grittiness comes more from its realistic depiction of racial, economic, and political marginalization. If you look for a lost cat, it will be political, because no action, place, or relationship is non-political. We only perceive it as non-political when we have accepted certain things- whiteness, the Alps, and other things Cozy DE would probably include like interpersonal harmony, community self-sufficiency, a focus on natural beauty, and low levels of technology use.
Also it's interesting how a village in the Alps is taken as this cozy ideal. Like tell me you've never actually been to the Alps outside of ski resorts. Small-town Austria is not a place where POC or visibly queer/trans people or that sort of thing can be cozy (not to say big cities like Vienna aren't hella racist too, but at least you can find community there and the elected officials aren't openly Nazis). Don't ask the villagers what they think about refugees or Jews or Roma or what their grandparents did in WW2. People have committed hate crimes and even bombings because they couldn't stand the idea of the government giving even token recognition to the Slovenian minority (who have lived in parts of Austria since long before German speakers arrived). You can practically set your watch by how often a politician gets caught making a Hitler salute or that sort of thing. The idea of the Alpine countryside as an idyll was promoted from the 50s onward not only for tourism purposes but as part of the construction of an Austrian national identity to distance themselves from Nazi Germany (while still allowing the vast majority of Nazis to avoid any accountability). I don't really know much about politics and social issues in Switzerland, Italy, etc but I suspect it's not that much better there.
Tldr: "It's all white supremacy?" "Always has been"
Hardest part of writing is accepting that some people will not fucking get it & you just have to like cope with that because over-explaining it just makes it worse
I will not over-explain my art to the stupidest people on earth. I'm writing for people who know what I'm talking about. Mantra that will save you. David Lynch was right
