had an idea
it really is kind of interesting how attached people are to the idea of the improvised line and the genuine reaction in film. nearly every single famous moment or line has some sort of claim floating around that it wasn't in the script and was either made up on the spot by an actor or was sprung as a surprise on the actors to get their 'real' reaction. you know, sometimes people do come up with good lines in advance and write them down, and sometimes people can pretend to be have a convincing emotional response on screen
imagine showing up to an 'insult your best friends' competition, and this is your opponent

what i miss most about being a chocolatier (besides the honor of gayest job title imaginable) is we had these massive bars of chocolate for tempering that were 10lbs and we had to break them into smaller chunks. by using a sledgehammer of course. i LIVED for that shit
all the other people in production HATED busting them especially at the end of the shift but i fucking loved it. give me the hammer. i can be trusted with the hammer. And everyone did in fact trust me with the hammer because again they all thought it was tedious and painful. me? i was having the time of my life. even if i had to pick up the slack for other people i would be annoyed for all of five seconds before the euphoria of getting to smash things set in. and the production areas had windows too so customers often just got to watch me beat the shit out of a massive chocolate bar. with a hammer. like a zoo animal. i was getting paid to do that. every day i miss it.

I've been meaning to make a post talking about my stroke because y'all got bits and pieces of the recovery but I never actually told the story of HOW it went down and the thing is the type of stroke I had is usually the type young people have and since having mine i've now heard multiple stories of people under 40 having very similar strokes and the scary thing is, is that they didn't get help right away. Because you're young and healthy and sure you feel weird but it'll pass right? but it doesn't, and it gets worse, and by the time you get to the hospital (some people literally take days to go) the deficits are worse and recovery is harder.
so here's a super long post about strokes in general, and mine in particular/what I went through.
Some of you might remember me talking about this when it happened- please read and be aware that strokes can happen at any age!
For the record, i'm unsure that taking a blood thinner of any kind if you suspect a stroke is a good idea - about 1 in 5 strokes are haemorrhagic strokes, that is, they're caused by a brain bleed, not a bloot clot. A blood thinner will make that worse. I'm unsure if these numbers apply to strokes in younger people.
But thank you for sharing - even if one does know BE FAST (or, even more if one knows only the older FAST) - it can be really difficult to recognise these sorts of things when you're actually having an odd experience, 'cause you knew it as abstract and outwardly-observable facts? So sharing a description of what it could actually feel like is really important. Thank you.
Worthwhile knowing that if you or someone you know is experiencing ANY unusual symptoms on the FAST list to call an ambulance. You don’t have to have all of them.
My coworker (an older man) was experiencing dizziness and slurred speech but because he wasn’t presenting lopsided face or arm strength/coordination I listened when he refused an ambulance and he drove himself home. He ended up going to the hospital later than night for a significant heart attack.
So while not a stroke, if you have doubt call and the EMTs can run some diagnostics right there to make a better informed decision. They don’t charge anything to show up, only if you ride in.
