I love byler so much dont get me wrong, i've been a byler fan since stranger things first came out, i have their funko pops, I've seen the Lawyer analysis video about a dozen times etc etc, but Im almost a thousand percent sure its NOT going to happen.
to start off with, the show got way too mainstream. it's popular because its good, but unfortunately with its popularity its audience has expanded way past the expected demographic. if the show were a lot less popular, I can totally see where byler would be a thing- and maybe that was the plan in the begining, but now the shows writers have to take into consideration how the audience would feel (meaning what they would PAY for) , and believe it or not a lot of people are seriously rooting for mileven.
I think we need to remember that Large companies are NOT our friends. they care about what makes money more than they care about what some of the audience want, especially with Netflix- a platform that has proven time and time again that they dont give a shit as long as they make a bag.
at BEST I think the final season is going to be very open-ended. I definitely don't think mileven will work out for sure, but I really doubt byler is going to happen. they're unfortunately queerbaiting and ive totally fallen for it.
we need to remember that while we're in 2025, and the worlds outlook on the LGBTQ community has drastically changed over the past couple of years, there are still homophobic assholes out there. its nice that they included robin as an openly lesbian character but she is definitely not as main as Will or Mike.
i would be pleasantly surprised if byler happens, and maybe I'm being pessimistic, I dunno, whether or not it happens the ship while have a place in my heart and ill totally keep reading fics about it lmao.
