my friend has a pit bull mix named ranger who looks basically exactly like a pit bull, but the size of a large lab. she adopted him when he came into the vet clinic she worked at, abused and undernourished and nursed him back to health

she was being stalked by a man a year or so later and started taking ranger with her because he was a big dog and looked like an effective deterrent but the man didn’t seem to care and started carrying a knife. ranger on more than one occasion grabbed hold of him despite the knife in order to protect her

he’s also the sweetest, smartest, most polite dog i’ve ever met. he has anxiety and instead of a thundershirt he has a taco costume and if he starts feeling anxious he’ll bring you his taco costume so you can put it on him and honestly that’s a better coping mechanism than pretty much anything i have

Also important information: A cop cannot arrest you for something you already took. The number of people who will happily tell someone “Well officer, this fight started because I smoked crack cocaine earlier,” is astounding and also not at all illegal. The criminal charge is for Possession of a Controlled Substance. If you don’t possess any at the time, there’s no crime. The only thing you can get dinged for is if you’re actively on a drug and driving, in which case - DUI.
