The fandom dedication to making my boy Cliff Marlow a good friend and supporter of Hollanov is amazing. They love making him, Hayden, and Jackie learn about the relationship in truly Looney Tunes ways. though I do love the ones where he either connects the dots on his own or is told and throws his whole being into supporting Ilya and Shane.

My new favorite heated rivalry trope is Cliff having a bisexual awakening caused by Shane. Cliff is trying to be supportive of Ilya and is acting with Ilya like he would've during any other of Ilya's significant others, meaning toeing the line between douchey/gross and semi-respectful. So he's all ears when it comes to Ilya's sex life, teases Ilya about Shane, listens to Ilya talk about Shane's body, makes very crude jokes, etc. But along the way he starts to truly hear what Ilya says about Shane, what their sex life is like, and his body, and it clicks for him that he finds everything just as appealing as if it would be a woman. He suddenly sees Shane in a new light and realizes how hot he is, not I-can-admit-he's-a-good-looking-man hot, but I-would-sleep-with-him hot. He hears about whatever Shane and Ilya did during sex recently and he realizes most of it sounds enjoyable. He once sees a nude Shane sent Ilya and he gets so horny he actually feels guilty for thirsting over Ilya's man. So it dawns on him that he's in his early thirties and he just figured out he's bisexual. And by god, does he immediately get down to business.

Cliff Marlow discovers gay por n. He wants to be extra sure he actually likes men so might as well watch something to get rid of any doubt. And it ends up being a life-altering experience. He's never finished so quick in his adult life. The search takes hours, it's VERY educational.

Cliff realizes he's had multiple short homoerotic friendships with other hockey players and that he flirts with players CONSTANTLY. With every out gay hockey player already in a relationship, he has the opportunity to become the hockey world manwhore. The Boston club scene cannot take losing Marlow after already losing Ilya.

There's at least one marathon sex session where he's putting everything he's learned from his internet searches and conversations with Ilya into practice.

marleau the vampire and marleau the reincarnating immortal warrior are both true actually. he’s been reincarnating alongside his liege lord basically forever, since the times of gilgamesh and enkidu at least. but during his quest for the grail with king arthur, morgan le fay (now jackie le fay) cursed him to vampirism by trapping his soul in the scary mirror. since then he hasn’t been able to die and be reborn, and must find his liege lord through other means in each of ilya’s lives. he was resigned to this fate, assuming the sorceress dead, but after seeing jackie he realizes that there’s a chance yet to break or lift the curse of vampirism and allow him to once again incarnate alongside his lord.

it is just endlessly so funny to me that a central issue in the tuna meltdown is that ilya is trying to account for shane's moves in a game of 3d chess and meanwhile shane is just desperately trying to play tic tac toe

ilya is layering his questions in like four layers of misdirect while still trying to get the answers he wants and then shane is just asking "you want me to stay?" "you want to make me food?" "do you have a girlfriend?"

ilya is out here coming up with his riddles three to see if he can cross over the becoming a boyfriend bridge, and he could have ACTUALLY DONE IT if he'd been able to ask "hey, do you want to be exclusive and not just fuck buddies?"

I buy heavily on the headCanon that Ilya Rozanov is a city boy through and through. I like to imagine that both him and Svetlana are basically useless outside basic essentials like cooking and cleaning, but if something broke? I have money, why would I do this? Plumber guy can do this! Shane, what is are you doing with a screwdriver, I can call someone to fix!

I don't believe the guy who got a glass Mansion in the middle of fuck nowhere would willingly call someone to fix something when he can be alone during his 2 weeks vacation and do it himself.

That's a very warm — basically cold — take on their relationship that I know is a very common one.

But I also ship Roselana. And I Know in my bones that Rose fix everything for Svetlana! She was introduced with the very common trope of "only girl between many brothers" I know she will fix Svetlana very expensive car in two seconds tops then will be toped by her girlfriend!

I know I'm too deep into heated rivalry because I am currently watching it with the german dub because I am so interested HOW they translate stuff.

Now you may know, that german uses a formal and an informal "you" and it's always interesting how they use that in dubbing.

For episode 3 Scott and Kip used the formal you until the "I'm too lazy to be a serial killer" talk and switch to the informal you when Scott invites him to the game. Makes total sense, and I'm glad that that invite wasn't with the formal you.

HOWEVER

During the gala scene, when Kip is there as Elena's plus one and Scott tell them they look nice SCOTT SLIPS BACK INTO THE FORMAL YOU WHEN TELLING KIP HE LOOKS GOOD.

It's just that ONE sentence but IMAGINE your partner, who you bascially live with is so deep in the closet he won't even use the informal "you" when speaking to you in public. It's just an extra added layer of heartbreak and it's SO GOOD. Made me yell at the screen 10/10 choice by the translators.
