im having feelings about the uffington white horse again

so essentially there’s this cool horse drawn into the hills in england made out of chalk and it’s like 3,000 years old.

people carved trenches 3,000 years ago and filled them with chalk in the shape of a horse but what’s interesting is that if you fail to maintain the horse by adding new chalk regularly, it will disappear. for 3,000 years, we’ve been filling in chalk in this horse so it doesn’t disappear.

we’ll never know what the purpose of the horse was originally. we’ll never know if it had ritual or spiritual significance or if it was just art. but we do know that people maintained it then, and, even though the meaning of the horse has long been lost to time, we continue to maintain it now.

the people who made this horse are long dead, but they live through us still, don’t you think?

Ok, this struck me.

As we all know Dany gave specific names to her dragons:

Drogo –> Drogon

Rhaegar –> Rhaegal

Viserys –> Viserion

And as happened in the last episode the fucking Night King managed to kill the last one and turn him into a wight dragon (will it spit fire or ice ?), but what got my attention is:

The killed dragon was the one named after the brother who used to abuse and cruelly treat Dany. This means that in season 8 she will have to defeat him as she did with Viserys. Somehow he or his reminiscence came back to hurt her a bit more.

At this point there are only two more dragons, Drogon and Raeghal, as for only two Targaryens in the world, Dany and Jon: I really hope we will see them both riding dragons in the war to come and if this happens Dany will obviously ride Drogon and Jon? Rhaegal, whose named after who ?? Rhaegar, Jon’s father

You also gotta know that if you’re going somewhere where there will be children and you’re in a costume even slightly similar to a Disney character they will think you are that character. 

 My hair is dyed white and at last year’s Ren Fest I was dressed as a water nymph. So i was in all blue, with glittery blue heeled boots on. Personally, I would have never thought that I looked like Elsa. I had leggings on, not a dress. And no ice themed anything. But that didn’t stop the sweetest little princess from asking me if I was Elsa. 

 I’ll admit that I was thrown for a loop, since I thought I was a pretty convincing mermaid on land with my scale print leggings. But I’m not a dick so I quickly recovered and said I was her cousin. Kids are more than happy to accept that and she smiled then shyly ran back to her mom to tell her she met Elsa’s cousin. 

If you’re in a glittery costume of any sort, in a place where children will be, be prepared to be nice to them. Otherwise you’re just a jerk. No one likes jerks.

I don’t even like kids, but one of the most rewarding cosplay moments I’ve had was interacting with littluns as Rose Quartz. Every kid got a hug if their parents said it was okay. Every kid got told that they were very special because they’re a human being. I’m looking forward to doing it again this year, because giving a kid a moment of genuine magic really is something else. It doesn’t hurt you to smile at a child.

When I cosplay Pearl I have precious little ones come up to me and you better bet I goof with them about how gross eating is or how loud amethyst is (and pretend to get a sooooo offended when they say someone else is their favorite gem)

You are making magic real for those kids in that moment and if you aren’t prepared for that, maybe think twice before cosplaying that character. I had a child completely frozen in disbelief and joy over seeing me, a character from a show they love, that’s power you have to wield responsibly.

It’s not just with popular lady characters. My best little-kid-cosplay-moment was when I was cosplaying Thor (not lady Thor from the comics, my own version of genderbent MCU Thor). I was walking through the dealer’s hall and suddenly saw a gaggle of Tiny Avengers in those Walmart costumes barrelling towards me. They crowded me in excitement and asked where Loki was because they wanted to find him and beat him up (I told them to give him an extra punch from me when they found him), then all six tried to crawl into my lap when I said yes to a photo. Cutest thing ever. BE NICE TO KIDS WHEN YOU’RE IN COSTUME.

Also, remember IF THERE IS A LOST CHILD AT A CONVENTION, AND YOU ARE COSPLAYING A PRINCESS OR A SUPER HERO, THE CHILD WILL GO TO YOU FOR HELP LONG BEFORE THEY THINK TO APPROACH A SECURITY OFFICER!!!  You have a duty to help that child! Help them calm down, escort them to the nearest safe zone, and inform a security officer that the child has misplaced their parents/guardians. -Never- use the term ‘lost child’ in front of the kid, it’s the parents who wandered off and got lost, not the child.

Give off the powerful and commanding vibe that Daenerys Targaryen gives off to her enemies.

What You’ll Need

Dragon’s blood incense

A red and black candle

Mortar and Pestle or items to muddle with

A container to save any leftovers

Paper

Tape

Storm water

Anemone (flower)

2 pieces of apple bark

Benzoin

Dahlia

Joe-Pye Weed

Lemongrass

Carnation

Cinnamon

This sigil

“Perzys zaldrīzi sēnagon kostos daor.” (fire cannot kill a dragon)

What To Do

Burn your dragon’s blood incense to start the spell.

Surround yourself with dahlias, benzoins, and anemones.

Light your black and red candle, burn one of your apple barks to ashes in the red candle (safely and carefully) and then blacken the bark in the black candle so you can write your sigil with it.

Add a small amount of storm water as the base of your glamour mix.

Then, take your cinnamon, lemongrass, and joe-pye weed and muddle them together.

After that take the ashes of your dragon’s blood incense and them into the muddled mix.

Write the sigil onto a piece of paper with the blackened apple bark, activate it by burning it, and then put the ashes into the muddled mix.

Rub onto your skin while thinking/saying “Perzys zaldrīzi sēnagon kostos daor.” or if you can’t speak Valyrian clearly “Fire cannot kill a dragon.”

Dispose of the carnations, benzoins, and anemones after you’re done.

If you have any leftovers put them into the container, draw the same sigil on a piece of paper with the blackened apple bark, and tape onto that container. Do not write the meaning of the sigil.

Keep the mixture in a cool, damp place.
