Reading an Orufrey fic and this line just really hit me:

"some are worn down by relentless work, some by just existing"

and I realized how well WHA and Qifrey's whole deal specifically illustrate the fatigue of living with disabilities/chronic illnesses.

These tweets made me realize why it was that I had very little interest in Orufrey as a ship in the beginning- like, I wanted to like them, but didnt feel that much attatchment to their concept. Like, okay. Theyre basically together already and just in denial. Cool. What’s stopping them? What makes them INTERESTING??

And THEN. Then, as the manga progresses, you start to realize: oh. They arent just this cute fluffy cottagecore magic couple. Oh, no. No theyre actually kinda fucked up. Like. Really really fucked up. Theyve got serious issues. Theyre kinda horrible for eachother in the worst and best of ways. Oh dear.

And see, THAT is the moment I became invested, because… damnit. I love when my ships are a little fucked up and toxic and codependent and have serious issues.
