I believe we meet people for a reason. Whatever the reason be it a lesson, an experience, a helping hand, etc. It's part of our journey in life.

I've been lucky to have met some incredible people in the last 3 years. People I can say without a doubt, which is a quite the feat for me, that they're my friends.

These people, most of the time, have no idea how they affect people and will never know the impact they've had on my life. I can only hope to bring the same peace and love to someone else's life the way these people have done to mine.

I want to mourn her death. I want to honor her. I want to pay tribute to who she was as a woman, as a mother, as a lawyer, as a fighter, as a wife, as a justice, as a patriot. 

I want to mourn her and celebrate her and thank her for everything that she did, all the decisions that she made that helped me grow up in an America where I was safe to pursue all the things I wanted. 

Instead the first emotion I felt wasn’t sadness, or humility, or solemnity. It was fear. Chill down the spine, tears in the eyes, heart racing, muscle clenching fear.

Growing up in a Christian household I was taught to treat the janitor the same way you would treat the CEO.

My parents were then surprised that I would treat a gay person the same way I would treat a straight person.

This applies to gay, trans, queer, nonbinary, etc.

I will never treat you differently just because you're different.

I will treat you differently if you're an asshole to others. Life is hard enough.

My problem was that my mother was afraid that I would fail, so I never learned to fail until later in life and I believe that it hurt me...

My coworker just made a comment about how I can go from customer service to elbow deep in big numbers in one step and I've never felt mor understood by someone and by myself before. It's like he opened a door and was like it's all because you have your own door.

I feel as though I constantly find myself the spare tire in a group. I used to have this dream of finding someone simply in life by a chance meeting, but the older I get the less hope I have of ever finding someone. ..

Sometimes.... I just cant. I cant ignore the fact that my mother says I didnt learn the same way,and that I needed special treatment. I just cant handle where I'm at in life. I cant handle the fact that I have a degree that I'm not using. I can't handle the fact that I feel like a waste of space. I cant handle that I dont have a person in my life. I cant handle that nothing make sense. I just cant...

And then I go to sleep and I wake up the next day and push forward....

It's sad. The fact that people my age feel as though they failed not because they are unhappy, but because they've been told their whole lives; 'go to high school, go to college, get a job, get married, have kids'.

This does not have to be your life.

If you dont have these things it does not mean that you failed.

The only way you fail is to be unhappy.

If you are happy with your life, if you are enjoying your life then you've won.

Why are we constantly competing for more money when it makes us miserable?

Why are we staying on a conveyor belt when we don't want to be?

Because our parents say we need to?

Because that's what society expects of you?

Fuck that. Be you. Be the person you want to be. If reading makes you happy, read and ignore the people who call you need and antisocial. If pumpkin spice makes you happy, drink pumpkin spice and ignore all the assholes who call you basic. If playing video games makes you happy, play video games and dont let anyone tell you you're less than anyone else for doing what you love.
