Midnight thoughts

I often think about how God made everything in the universe, including the cicadas and crickets, knowing that I one day would sit on the steps to my house and listen to them and think. He knew that I would go outside at night and soothe myself with His creation, and sometimes I wonder if that’s one of the reasons why he made those things. Did he ever make those things that we find so comforting, just so we could feel that safety?

When I was a wee little girl my mom and I lived with my grandma for a bit. Living in the mountains of Appalachia your entire life tends to make you talk a little funny sometimes; so when my grandma said “Doily”*, for whatever reason, whether it was the way she said it, or just the word itself, I began laughing uncontrollably in a fit of mirth and whimsy from the mere mention of them. Every single time she said that forbidden five letter word I would crack up instantly in some weird feedback loop of crochet project induced laughter. I admit I still find the word funny, but I unfortunately don’t laugh as hard as nine year old me did, but I’ll take it

* for yall non southerners who might not know, it’s a small, usually round crochet or sometimes paper mat used as a decorations, binding flowers and/or a sort of coaster for drinks or food service. My granny loves crocheting these /info

Does anyone else sometimes talk to their cat like a roommate or younger sibling? My cat is an absolute weirdo who eats pretty much anything you put in front of him that won’t eat him first or kill him.

I often let him have a taste of the sauce from the Chef Boyardee cans of ravioli or whatever from the lid or from a spoon when im done eating it.(Yes I eat straight from the can like a heathen, sue me.) I had a can of mini raviolis after a very long, 0.88 mile walk(Very proud of myself for doing that, btw.) and my cat(Sebastian) hauled tail for me but I explained to him like the annoyed older sister I am to him that I couldn’t share because of how I was absolutely starved and needed every nutrient and carb I could get from the can and continued eating.

But now I feel like the absolute scum of the earth because Sebastian is one of the few smarter cats who has learned how to manipulate people. He’s laying in my mom’s chair all cute and sad, probably pretending to he a starving little orphan andrew, to make me feel guilty. And It works every single time. Please send more cans, his yearning never ends

Everyone from Old Order had special interest besides Gabriel, so he was the guy who just sat there hours long hearing them talk because

He loved them

He loved hearing their voices

He loved when they're happy about their interests

He loved spending time together

Most of the time they talked and kinda forgot that he's listening, so people like Soren or Ellegaard with low running energy could've fell asleep with their papers and he scooped them up and got to bed, while with Ivor or Magnus he gently pushed them to their rooms reminding that sleep is important. That's, if they are long sessions

You'd also see him always having a small smile and nodding along to what they say even if they're not looking or mentally checking out what and where they're leaving in case someone else will move it since people like Ivor and Magnus keep things kinda of messy and remember where's what but if someone moves it, they're having hard time finding it, while Ellegaard and Soren keep all the things in certain places the way it'll be easier for them to move around and get upset if someone moves something they arranged

And at the end of the day, he knows all the things they've been talking about because he actually paid attention
