I’ve never understood disabled people who’ve gotten better and then use that to shame others for “not trying hard enough” or to peddle snake oil-esque “cures”
I’m a disabled person who went from struggling to even just sit upright for a few hours a day (orthostatic intolerance) to being able to go for 1mi long walks spontaneously, and I never forget how lucky I am. it is by the whims of luck that I’m responsive to the meds I’m on and the lifestyle adjustments I’ve made
nothing works for everyone and some people won’t get better, and that is not a failing on their part. being “active” in your treatment and level of personal involvement are not the only determinators in outcomes—much of it is luck
