I’m not a fan of ai, but I can accept that if someone chooses to use ai for their fics or their art, that is their choice. not something I agree with. but still not my business, and I will never condone harassment.

if anything, I think it’s better if these people feel comfortable enough to tag their stuff as ai, so that other people can avoid their works if they’re not comfortable with ai-generated contents.

that said, I think ai writers will stop tagging their stuff as ai entirely if people shame or harass them for it.

so now their stuff is still ai, just untagged, meaning there’s no way for others to know if it’s ai.

keep in mind that speculation, accusations and witch hunt harm genuine artists and writers as much as ai does, if not more.

so if you go to the “ai-generated” tag on ao3 just to harass people for using ai, just know that you’re not actually fighting against ai — you’re just being a bully and you’re also making people more wary of properly tagging their ai-generated works as such. so you’re just making sure they no longer tag their ai-generated stuff as ai. also you can be reported for harassment, and ao3 will not take your side. (whether or not you like it, ai-generated works are allowed on ao3, whereas harassment is not.)

the “ai-generated” tag on ao3 is there so people can either find or avoid works with ai (but in order for it to work, ai users must feel comfortable enough to be honest and tag their works properly, that won’t happen if people keep shaming and harassing them for it — the only thing harassment will do is make sure ai stuff go untagged, harassment doesn’t stop people from using ai).

the “ai-generated” tag is not there so that you can freely harass people with no consequences.

Sits bolt upright I’ve never told anyone about my Twi’lek slave naming headcanons that I forgot weren’t actually canon

So, canonically Ryll seems to be an extremely complex language where even minor variations in pronunciation can change the meanings of things drastically. According to Wookiepedia, a twi’lek friend of Wedge Antilles refused to use the basic pronunciation and called him Wedgan’tilles, which sounded like ‘slayer of stars’ in Ryll, while the basic pronunciation meant ‘one so foul as to induce vomiting in a rancor.’ Wookiepedia also says that Twi’lek names mash first and last names together (like in Wedgan’tilles), they just separate them out again when interacting with other species (Like Aayla Secura might be Aaylas’ecura on Ryloth). Also, Twi’leks using a split version of a Twi’lek’s name can be a sign of them being exiled or cast out, apparently—exiles are only referred to with their given and family names split apart, or something like that. Twi’leks select first names to complement their family names and make minor alterations in pronunciation in order to create specific meaning, changing the stresses on syllables and stuff, it’s all very deliberate and Wookiepedia explains it better than I do. So most Twi’leks have two forms of their names, the split version and the combined version. To use my own OC as an example, the two forms would be Shori Yoni and Shoriyoni.

That’s all canon (unless I’ve misremembered something, I can’t be bothered to check Wookiepedia right now to make certain.)

My headcanon that builds on that is the idea that among communities of Twi’lek slaves, they have three forms of their names. Slaves give their children names that have meanings indicating how downtrodden and sad and hopeless they are, in the combined form—however, they have secret names that with a tiny bit of pronunciation alteration, speak of parents’ hopes for their children if ever they see a future where they are free, in addition to the galactic standard ‘first and family names split apart form.’ So, to come up with some entirely fake examples with totally made up non-canon-to-Ryll-at-all meanings, say a slave with the family name Niva names her daughter Miyan. Miy’aniva might mean something like ‘heavily burdened’, but Miya’iva could mean ‘singing for joy.’ Or something like that. Nobody yell at me if there are real-fake words in Ryll that mean things I’ve assigned to my name I just made up, that was a two second example case.

(And not every slave Twi’lek would know their family name, or maybe even their given name if they were taken from their family early enough. But I headcanon that in some communities of Twi’lek slaves, most especially on Ryloth itself, they do the best they can to hold on to this naming practice of hidden hope.)
