I just saw a Tiktok that baffled me, so USAmericans only, what hand do you hold your fork in?
Left, it's the rule/tradition
Right, it's the rule/tradition
Wait, there's a rule? Left
Wait, there's a rule? Right
Idk, whichever side I left it when I last touched it
The fork is the devil's instrument, I do not use it
Not USAmerican/bald/other
This is literal insanity
Also I live in the US and I've never seen or heard of anyone doing this
Hmmm
Anyway, I hold my fork in my left hand because I'm left-handed, and I assume most people hold it in their right because they're right handed
Ooh, OK, that makes sense
I'm left-handed, but my right hand is stronger (since I was accidentally taught to use it for sports), so I've never needed to switch them to have the fork in the high dexterity hand and the knife in the high strength hand
One of the articles was talking about switching back and forth all meal and I couldn't understand why
i do cut and switch for the pragmatic reasons outlined above and because it's what i was taught, but i'm not being proper about it because i'm lefthanded so i'm doing it backwards
this is interesting tho i didn't realize it was a rule but something i noticed a lot of americans do. however, though i am american i actually eat with right cut with left and don't switch but i am slightly ambidextrous so idk
