At the call of his name, Klaus’ ears perked. Oh. How unexpected. He mostly entered to help Dia with her little fundraiser, but it seemed he won something anyway. He pondered if receiving a reward defeated the act of a selfless deed... before shaking his head. No use dwelling on it. Stepping up to claim his prize, Klaus offered small bow of gratitude as he took box number ten.
Digging into it immediately would be terribly rude, so he opted to wait until the commotion died down and he had a private moment. The small window between collecting his gift and opening it allowed the anticipation Klaus missed out on to build. By the time he sat and began unboxing, he felt genuine excitement. (It had been a long time since he got something he didn’t buy himself.)
And this was why he preferred buying gifts for himself. Sighing through his nose, he wondered if his darling cousin did this as a deliberate mockery. (Highly unlikely, but after letting himself get so eager, he couldn’t help but feel he was the butt of some sort of jape.) The ores could perhaps come in handy at a blacksmith, however, as much as he respected the profession and advocated for picking up new skills, Klaus held zero interest in acquainting himself with mental-working. It was filthy, and... would a forge even fit in his apartment? It’s not that he was ungrateful for the materials or didn’t appreciate their expense, but figuring out what to do with a giant hulking forge he’ll never use seemed more like a burden than a prize.
