“Guess you get to still hang out with MOMMY after all, right Rags?” KEEP MY WIFE’S NAME OUT YOUR FUCKING MOUTH
Idc this should’ve been in the show.
Putting aside the racist implications and cultural appropriation, taking a song a father wrote for his new born daughter and all the joy she represents, then making it about a 22 year old misogynistic character who has an habit of abusing women and feeling sorry for themselves is already gross on multiple levels. Regardless of how you feel about said character's gender identity. Jax isn't a baby who hasn't had the time to commit any wrongdoings in their life. They're an adult who's responsible for their own actions.
learning to notice an absence of people of color is crazy. you start seeing it everywhere. ill see a random pic of characters or people or whatever and be like "these are all white people. why"
all the babies in those baby youtube video memes. humanized character posts. like. its the little innocent shit. and like, the people making those baby memes probably arent seeking out white babies. maybe theyre just easier to find. but why are they easier to find? a complicated question, surely... but you know what it probably comes down to. someone, somewhere, maybe a lot of someones in a lot of places, made a choice. maybe knowingly, maybe not. but they made a choice. it starts to make you feel like a conspiracy theorist!!
its really funny that after 2 months this post is still making racists come into my askbox treating me like im a horrible person for pointing out that sometimes people of color are excluded from things in visible and offputting ways. cry about it
Its really frustrating noticing that + the racism issues in fandom spaces. I am mexican, filipino, and white. And being mixed like this has led to me growing up in different groups and that is why I think its so important that that I speak up, as somebody with white friends and family, but also hispanic and asian friends and family. I've seen things like the TADC for example and I hear that (some) white people don't want to interact with POC creators, characters, or people in a fandom that really grinds my gears.
When I was first learning about these issues (as someone new to fandom culture and being educated) I was appalled. I live in a very diverse city despite being in a red state. Black people are my aunties and my uncles, my family though not by blood. They're doctors, lawyers, and artists. They're my neighbors and friends and honestly I never noticed a difference, between me and them, I just knew they and so many more people are a staple in the community we live in. When it comes to school I've grown up with children of immigrants from Cuba, Chile, India, Pakistan, Iraq, Nigeria, and more. These other cultures, I'm not in, but I am familiar with and more importantly, I see people as human beings and I see the beauty in these cultures. I'll ask people their favorite foods, I'll try their music, whatever they want to talk about when it comes to their identity I will ask and listen and then share a little bit about myself too. Its so frustrating that I learn that there are people out there who make things that are white only, or only have white friends, and who care about their reputations but less so about the actual harm they're causing. The world isn't some place where everyone else can be excluded. People need to be kinder of course, but they should also be curious and open minded and in this instance where I learn that they won't even *try* to reach out to POC communities, people shouldn't be cowardly.
okay unrelated but what was the funniest red flag in ur worst relationship
the whiplash of these notes
Reading the notes like

“Do dishes” and “take out trash” both require the use of a spell slot, vs “use phone” is a cantrip, and brother, I am a level one wizard
it would suck being a new immortal. like it’d be 2109 and people would go, “what was it like seeing ancient civilizations rise and fall like that? seeing the pyramids being built? watching the expansion and growth of the new world?” and i’d just be like, “no…no i was born in 1991. so like, wow i’m gonna see some cool stuff, but, i mean i’m not that much older than just a really, really old person, you know? phones were big back then. so big. but only for like ten years, then they got like, as good as they are now. uh. rhinos existed. don’t think i ever saw one in person. cool, good talk.”
even worse, imagine being an immortal who keeps missing stuff. “What was it like seeing the pyramids being built?” “Fuck if I know, I was in Madagascar.” “Oh, okay. Well, how was the Renaissance?” “I fell down a hole in Scotland and people thought I was an enchanted well for four hundred years, it was over by the time I convinced someone to get me out.”
And now, a lesson in biases:
We barely know anything about Madagascar pre-500CE. We don’t even know whether the island had a permanent population before then, despite finding a bunch of much older signs of temporary human presence.
Malagasy mythology makes mention of the vazimba, a “precursor” ethnic group that might or might not be distinct from Madagascar’s current population.
The point is, we do not know.
So you were in Madagascar when the pyramids were being built in Egypt, i.e. during one of the most obscure, most undocumented parts of Madagascar’s human history?
Oh, buddy, you better go and make a bunch of anthropologists and archeologists really happy RIGHT NOW instead of feeling bad about missing everyone else’s pet Major Event.
It’s been a decade since we left that comment and you have the best reply anyone’s left to it.
i don’t think i’m exaggerating when i say that the average height for women in the US would increase by at least an inch if teen girls were allowed to eat as much as teen boys are
and not to bring my own clocky bitch ass into this but if cis women weren’t so consistently starved their entire lives you’d see a lot more cis women with the kind of bodies that we currently associate closely with trans women. the amount that the standards of feminine presentation are culturally defined by malnutrition is crazy

Racism against Indians is actually a little insane when you consider how widespread it is even among liberals and leftists . Even people who consider themselves to be progressive will laugh at call center or tech support jokes. All scammers are inherently indian. It’s okay to laugh at jokes making fun of Indians for their feelings towards animals or how they drive. India is inherently backwards and dirty so it’s okay to make jokes about getting food poisoning from even looking at indian food
We cannot even talk about racism towards us without someone jumping in and going “well this other group has it worse” SHUT up. Genuinely shut up. This isn’t a competition. It’s like we don’t even exist.
“I’m not into Indian girls, but you look [other ethnicity]” you’re into Indian girls.
“Omg I love Indian food” and it’s just butter chicken or chicken tikka masala.
“Chandelier earrings” you mean my jhumkas?
“I love avatar/atla” you don’t know what the concept of an avatar even is.
“Your slums are dirty” tell that to the unusually low Covid rates in those slums.
“Indians don’t experience colourism” that is certainly an echo chamber chronically online take.
Exams during our festival season while every other religion gets their days off. Told to speak English when many of us in the diaspora already do (thanks colonialism!). Made to take English exams or considered international students on the basis of our names. Overlooked in job applications. Blamed for climate change. Blamed for lack of jobs. Blamed for crashing economy. Blamed for terrorism (more issues there). Random TSA checks. Random hate crimes. Stolen culture. Stolen property.
Uncredited for simple things everyone does nowadays. Coconut oil, miswak, mehndi, indigo, the number 0, banking cheques, chess, yoga, chakras, third eye, evil eye, turmeric, clean girl aesthetic, lost wax casting, bindis, kohl, dupattas, bangles, courtyards in houses, paisley, the very concept of rebirth and reincarnation. I could go on.
The racism towards Indians is so entrenched in every single western culture that nobody bothers to look twice when India suffers a heat wave. You all love Greece and Rome but did you know they directly benefitted from trade with the Indian subcontinent? Did you know Indians were taken as indentured labourers too? Did you know we were slaves too? And I’m speaking for South Asia as a whole here, did you know many of us are still slaves?
We’re not asking you to elevate us. We’re telling you to acknowledge us, and to do so without putting us in competition with any other racialized group.
maybe the single funniest twitter comment I've ever seen
