How old is everyone in Far Cry 5?

I know a lot of people want to know the answer to this question. I do, too… But guess what? There are only three characters in Far Cry 5 whose date of birth and/or age is revealed in the game:

Sharky Boshaw (October 2, 1980)

Staci Pratt (26 years old)

Clutch Nixon (1941)

And… that’s it (unless I missed something, please tell me)!

The information that’s on the Wiki (or here) is unreliable, especially if it’s unsourced and if you can’t find anything in the game to confirm it. Know that the majority of the ages, birth dates, heights, weights and birthplaces you see on the Far Cry Wiki are just made up by people and that, most of the time, there is zero evidence to back these claims up in canon.

It’s not just in Far Cry 5. We don’t know the age, birth date, height or weight of any of the characters in Far Cry 3. We only know that Jason is a Pisces, that Grant is older than him, and that Riley is younger. We don’t even know who is the youngest sibling between Vaas and Citra.

In Far Cry 4, only four characters (I believe) have an official year of birth (SPOILERS):

Ajay Ghale (1988 according to official sources but if you do the math you realize this date is probably inaccurate and that his year of birth is most likely 1987)

Ishwari Ghale (1968)

Lakshmana Min (1988)

Pagan Min (1966 but I don’t think it’s confirmed in the game, I’m not sure)

And none of them have an official height or weight.

In Far Cry 5, only Sharky’s height (6 feet) and weight (230 pounds, even though that seems a lot) are specified in the game.

We don’t know how old the Seeds are. We only know that:

Jacob is the oldest brother and John is the youngest,

Jacob “was in Iraq during the first Gulf War” so he had already joined the army in 1990-1991 and was at least 18 at the time, which means he is at least 45 in the game,

According to Joseph, John “was just a child” when their family was torn apart. Although vague, this statement implies that Joseph didn’t really consider himself a child anymore when this happened so it’s safe to assume he’s several years older than John,

John was a lawyer before they started the Project at Eden’s Gate. It takes seven years to become a lawyer in the US and they’ve been in Hope County at least since August 2009 so John can’t be younger than 33, at the very least,

According to Faith, she was 17 when she joined the cult. Again, they’ve been in Hope County for at least 9 years so, if she didn’t lie about her age, Faith probably isn’t older than 26.

And concerning the other characters:

Like Jacob, Pastor Jerome Jeffries was in the army during the first Gulf War so he’s at least 45,

Wheaty, according to Jacob, is “a teenager” (but he may have used it as a derogatory term),

Dutch probably fought in the Vietnam War (you can find evidence for this in his bunker) so he must be somewhere between 61 and 81,

Hurk Jr. is older than Sharky so he’s at least 39,

Grace won an Olympic medal in 2004. She’s probably in her thirties, or older,

Tracey was Rachel’s best friend before she became Faith. They must be roughly the same age,

Xander is young enough to be Adelaide’s son, according to Jess,

Jess says she’s 40 years younger than Adelaide who corrects her, saying she’s only 26 years older than Jess. The truth must lie somewhere in between.

I believe that’s all we know.

In Far Cry Absolution (which is “official” but probably not canon), the Seeds have been in Hope County for 12 to 15 years. Mary May is said to be 29 (almost 30), John is ten years older than her, and Joseph is in his fifties. I personally believe Joseph is younger than 50 but… who knows?

If The Book of Joseph is canon (we still don’t know if it is), then the age gap between the Seed brothers is not very big, because John was already in school way before Jacob turned 18 so Jacob can’t be 15 years older than John like the Wiki says…

And if Mary May is only 25 (which I doubt), she was like 16 when John Seed set foot in the Spread Eagle for the first time and eyed her like she was “a meal" and Oh My God Please No.

Anyway, what I mean is you don’t have to trust everything that’s on the Far Cry Wiki, especially if you have no idea where the information comes from.

Fandom rule number one: Always doubt the Wiki.

Far Cry 5 + ND : the characters’ reaction after finding out the Judge is the Deputy.

Posting two headcanons posts in a row because I just finished writing this and I absolutely love it. Just… thanks to the anon who requested this. 💖😭 Writing this made me really happy and I think I needed it.

Also, please request more stuff with Nick because I love writing about him omg.

Kim Rye

From the first moment she sets her eyes on the silhouette, she knows it’s the Dep.

She doesn’t really know how to react because she’s just speechless.

So, one evening, when the Judge is alone in a corner of Prosperity, Kim takes Carmina with her and decides to introduce them.

She doesn’t confront the Judge about who they are.

“Hey, I just thought you might have wanted to meet my daughter, Carmina”

The Judge acts all nervous and she hears an anxious and nostalgic sob behind their mask.

“Someone really brave and caring helped us on the day of her birth.”

Carmina is weirded out by that comment. Like wtf mom ??

But at that moment, the Judge understands that Kim knows.

She takes their hand and the Judge squeezes it a little.

They’re happy to meet again after all this time, even if they both stay silent.

Nick Rye

Kim is the one who told him about it.

He’s hot with rage when she talks about how devoted they are to Joseph now.

“That’s bullshit ! After all this time, the Dep just betrays us like this ??”

So he goes to find them, determined to give them a piece of his mind.

But when he finds them, he suddenly recognizes all of their mannerisms ; the way they move, their hand gestures…

And he just breaks down in front of them.

“Hey, Partner,” he cries.

The Judge stops moving, shocked.

Nick sits next to them. He’s crying but acts like he’s not.

“It’s been a while, huh ?… You’ve seen- huh… You’ve seen your goddaughter ? She grew up quite a bit. Would’ve loved to have you around to teach her how to live… Kim says she makes her think about you, how you were back in the days… ”

The Judge puts their shoulder against Nick’s. He gives them a little push.

“We all missed you.”

They spend the whole night talking together… Or rather Nick talks and the Judge listen quietly, sometimes snickering or grunting a little.

The partners are back in business together.

Sharky Boshaw

It takes him a while to realize it.

But he slowly starts to notice how similar the Judge and the Dep are…

And it always seems like they’re trying to reach out to him ? But they never do it.

So he starts dropping hints about his suspicions when the Judge is around…

“Once, my best friend and I took back a whole outpost with nothing but our flamethrowers. It was wild, man. Do you… like flamethrowers ?”

“My best friend’s favorite weapon was a bow as well… What a coincidence, huh ?”

So eventually, the Judge understands what he’s trying to do and they reveal who they are to Sharky.

At which point he just hugs them. He’s a bit angry at them for disappearing for so long, but his happiness is just so much stronger that he can’t stay mad.

“Man, I knew it was you. I knew you couldn’t have died… You’re too awesome to die !!! We’ve got a lot of things to catch up on, huh ? Come on, let’s grab a drink.”

So the Judge follows Sharky and the spend the next few days together.

Sharky talks about the good old days or what happened to him after the Collapse.

He’s a bit frustrated that his best friend won’t talk to him (and he has tons of questions)… But they’ve never been a big talker so he’s just happy to have them by his side again.

Hurk Jr.

He sees Sharky hanging out with the Judge more and more so finally he wonders why.

“Sharky man, why are you hangin’ out with that weird masked dude so much ?”

“Hurk, that’s the Dep.”

“WHAT ?!”

Almost instantaneously, Hurk goes to find the Dep and make sure it’s them.

When he confronts them, the Judge nods quietly and Hurk just breaks down.

“DUDE, it’s really you ?? I missed you, man. All those crazy adventures we had ? Man, that was some good time. OMG, I’ve got a kid now dude. I’m a daddy ! You wanna meet Blade ? We could teach him some cool shit together !!!”

So the Judge follows Hurk and he introduce them to Blade. They’re really careful and afraid to hurt this little kid.

“Hey, I know you’re already Carmina’s godparent and all… But I was thinking that, maybe, you could be Blade’s too ? I don’t know man, I just want him to grow up as awesome as me and Sharky and… you. You know ?”

The Judge hugs Hurk. They’re crying behind their mask…

No but I can explain.

So you see: @korybing and I have been talking (as you do) about Gravity Falls AUs (as you do), and especially the awesome One Of Us au (where Ford becomes a part of Bill’s crew) and we thought to ourselves (as you do): “what if Ford AND Stan became demons? Wouldn’t that be messed up and also great??” 

So anyway, this is what we’ve spent far too much time thinking about this week.  The two become demon/monsters as a way to defeat Bill, but end up bound to/as inanimate objects (a journal for Ford, and an 8 ball/cane for Stan) that they can manifest out of (but only under the right conditions).  Everyone thinks they’re dead for a long time (it’s complicated), but when Mabel and Dipper come back to the Shack (after they’ve finished high school/college) to settle up the property (it was willed/left to them, but they had to wait until they were legal adults to do anything with it) it revives the Stans out of their resting forms and hijinks ensue. 

We brainstormed the designs together, Kory drew and inked them, and I coloured them.  We’ve been calling it the Demon Stans AU and we’ve spent way too much time thinking about it.  This sure is……. this sure is a life choice we’ve made.

what if Dipper and Mabel accidentally end up back in time when Stan and Ford were just teenagers? bonus points for them going back to the day of, before, or after Ford’s project gets messed up and Stan gets kicked out

like, what if they stop Stan before he hits the table Ford’s machine is on? what if someone else messes up the machine (Bill??)? What if Ford still assumes it was Stan because of the toffee peanuts bag? but this time the twins are there to confirm Stan’s innocence. Maybe Dipper and Mabel get to Ford before he accuses Stan and things go downhill?

1960s/70s Proms: Yeah, it was Just Like That

So when I first saw this scene, I laughed like a hyena, because I knew that somewhere our family had actual photographs of my brother wearing BOTH of these tuxes to various proms, and they are seared in my memory.  While my brother’s proms were a little later than the Stans’ (which would have been ‘68 or ‘69), I have no reason not to believe that they weren’t totally accurate for that slightly earlier time period too.

I recently rediscovered the actual photos, and I felt the need to share.

The year is between 1975 and 1977.  

This might have been his junior prom. I swear that in my head, I misremembered this tux as looking exactly like Ford’s in the pic above (I could swear I remember the dark piping).  But this is the only photo I could find of him wearing the powder-blue tux, so.

Oh but wait, it gets better, because:

This is definitely ‘77, because it’s his now-wife’s senior prom.  I also particularly like this photo for the proof that it was perfectly possible to select a reasonable black tux, as his friend Brian did, (though I think that is a powder-blue shirt), which means my brother VERY VOLUNTARILY chose this pink ruffled ensemble.

With the white shoes!  THE WHITE SHOES.  I really gotta sit him down at some point and really ask how this happened.  I mean I know it was the 70s and people were, objectively, a bit insane when it came to fashion, but.  Guys, you cannot even begin to appreciate what a boring and unfashionable person my brother, the professional CPA, is and was.  

I just need you to appreciate the satin piping and the ruffles at the wrists, and also, the attempt here at the Steve Pinington mustache.  Because yes, that was totally a thing that people did unironically.  He wore that mustache and long hair for several years.

Greetings fellow Forduarians!

Wow, this is a post.

First off, the happy part!

This year's Forduary themes!

The four weeks of FORD!

Pick however many or few you like! As usual, things are fairly flexible so don't worry if you're early or late with any of the prompts. We'll reblog your creations until March 15 whether they're week one or week four!

Next up is the end of an era announcement:

This will be the final Forduary.

Even before the last Stanuary was announced, I'd planned on this being the last Forduary and it seems fitting that the elder Pines twin events hit their last runs together. It was simply a coincidence that both of us were thinking of ending the events this year so we discussed it and decided to go forward with making our announcements. I'll go into more detail under the read more but the TL;DR is:

The Forduary blog will remain up indefinitely.

I do not plan on transferring ownership to anyone else.

Thank you to everyone who has participated over the years, whether you created pieces or reblogged them or both, for everything you've done to make both of these events as fun and successful as they have been!

Why is Forduary ending?

Honestly, for some similar reasons as Stanuary.

It was once something done out of passion and frivolity but, while I still do carry that feeling for the series, characters, fellow fans, and fan creations, running this event is starting to feel more like an obligation and that pokes my demand avoidance in ways that I don't currently have the resources to handle.

Participation has noticeably and understandably declined.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with loving an older series and creating things based on it. In fact, I encourage that. But it's also understandable that the original fan base has at least partly moved on to other things. Time is timey and change is changey like that. And that's okay.

So, this is by no means anything negative nor is it meant to provoke guilt because I, too, am ready to move forward with this as a beloved part of who I am, just not as active as it was.

Stanuary was right. Ten years IS the perfect number to end on.

It really is nice. A decade. A whole decade! We did that together!

There are other personal reasons but I won't bore y'all with the details. Mostly, I need (and want) to direct energy into different things now. (Though to reveal at least something, I've been enjoying crafting physical pieces lately.)

What's going to happen to the blog and AO3 collection?

Same as with Stanuary. They'll stay up as long as either of these websites do and exist as a sort of archive.

Why not let someone else run Forduary?

Honestly, I don't feel confident in my ability to "hire" someone else to do it and would rather know that this slice of Forduary history will simply continue to exist as is as long as tumblr does.

If someone wants to start a new event, though, please do! But, I'd rather leave it up to whoever wants to take that initiative rather than try to pick someone to do so.

What's next?

Who knows? I certainly don't. At least, not yet.

Any secrets to share before the end?

Personal opinion only: shipping Ford with Bill is squick to me but I loathe censorship more and love clear tagging that allows people to curate their online experiences to match their own preferences. However, there was so much drama about the ship for so long that, for the sake of keeping this event as stress-free as possible, the other mods and myself decided not to allow content related to that ship until last year when it felt like the clouds of drama surrounding it dissipated enough to allow it with clear tagging.

Anyway, go forth and create for one last Forduary! And thanks again for all of the memories!

Hello! I love your art, but I have a question about one of your aus.

In your Fordswap au, does Stanley try to help/keep an eye on Fiddleford after Ford goes through the portal? I assume he would have learned about the swap, so would he try to keep Ford's body safe while trying to fix the portal?

Even if it was just making sure Fidds didn't injure himself too badly or end up left out in the rain/snow. (Or something else along those lines.)

Stan never learns about Fiddleford's whereabouts. In secrecy and guilt, Fiddleford keeps his face covered at all times, going about as the "Blind One" and head of The Society of the Blind Eye.

He still manages to hit Fiddleford with his car, but his face is more than unrecognizable and his hands are always covered. In a bout of madness at his breaking point, Fiddleford retires to hide in the cave behind Trembley Falls after running the society for 16 years.

Stanley had an inkling that the "strange man" rumored to be living deep in the forest by the falls was the one who was wildly piloting his brother's body, but with lapses in his memory whenever he went to find the man, his better instinct drove him away from ever trying again. It isn't until Dipper and Mabel manage to recover Fiddleford's memories that Stan finally sees his brother's face again, though it's definitely worse for wear.
