spring is sprung in Leadville. Ah, Colorado...
Skijoring in Leadville - usually done with dogs pulling skiers, Leadville gets real wild west and pulls with horses over 8 foot jumps.
roommate auditions - Harpo & Ima.
trim season - fortunately I had a couple friends come down to the farm to help finish up processing all the weed we grew. It was TBH the most fun I had on the farm all year. Mallery - a super bud & successful playwright - turned out to be a super trimmer, if not a little bit ocd. She also baked bread every other day!
first time as a car owner in almost 20 years. I lasted almost one year as a driver before I reverted to bike or hike. apparently i’m not meant to move faster than i can pedal... but it was fun. thanks Le Blob!
memories of summer - nice lil 18 miler in the Grouse Ridge Non-Motorized Area. Feeley Lake up to Grouse Mountain lookout, round to Granite Lake and the Sand Ridge trail, then finishing up running past Penner Lake - in my opinion one of the sweetest little alpine lakes in the Sierra foothills.
organic Sour Diesel, grown with love in northern cali. i lived in a geodesic dome for a year, working over full time and racking up grocery bills on a credit card. then the market fell out and we all either caught fire or ran away broke. and that was the end of the wild west in northern cali, the end of tax free money, and the end of an entire era of illegal industry. but fuck it, u no?
Social ecology offers an uncompromising ecological outlook that challenges the entrenched power structures that underlie the systems of capitalism and the nation-state. A movement that fails to confront the underlying causes of environmental destruction and climate disruption can, at best, only superficially address those problems. Capitalism continually promotes false solutions such as carbon trading, geoengineering, and fracked gas as a “bridge fuel,” which serve the system’s imperative to keep growing. Ultimately, to fully address the causes of climate change and other compelling environmental problems requires us to raise long-range, transformative demands that the dominant economic and political systems may prove unable to accommodate.

Not Health food, but cruelty free awesomeness for breakfast!
Le Slug - 85 hp Weberized beast.
I’ll admit, I can barely stand the sight of Clif chocolate chip, peanut butter, or chocolate chip peanut butter after having eaten too many on the AT. However, they’ve been upping the game with the nut butter filled and the new flavors (apricot & chia pomegranate may be the best). Its awesome cause they’re often the only vegan bars available at every gas station along the way...
Harpo with a pocketful of chamomile. CDT 2016
Great Basin, before heading into Colorado on the CDT 2017. Things starting to look green...
Bible. This is the book that I refer to over any other cookbook, whenever I feel low, and when I need some of that good good. I think Healing with Whole Foods really confirmed my decision to be vegan, which has lasted 10 years and thousands of miles now...
Marshall, early in the day Scalleycat 2017. Reno, NV.
Scalleycat is a 24 hour alleycat scavenger hunt/race. Things get lit on fire (I think this year we stole a xmas tree an lit it up in front of a cop car), cheating is encouraged necessary, there’s punk rock & graffiti, and things get loose. This was my 4th Scalleycat, and it just keeps getting better. I love Reno.
What is it with me & broken toes. 3 this year. And for some reason, always before I head out for a Saint Genet show where I’m either dancing or on my feet for hours at a time in uncomfortable shoes. Last year, I broke a pinkie toe during rehearsal for Frail Affinities that was opening at Donau Festival 2 days later - my first show as a ‘dancer.’ So it go...
