“ ahh, you don’t want to hear about HIM.”
anyone in their right mind would fear the very idea of this creature. removing himself from being concerned about the guy is easy so long as peter keeps the details vague & refrains from making him out to be believable. things like that are just a bit too heavy for his tastes, especially in light of the cataclysmic event that nearly devoured all of xandar. really brings cosmic entities into perspective, makes them tangible. quill isn’t above scaring himself with his own stories to begin with, so sharing a more down to earth rendition of the true ones can become problematic.
the universe is suddenly becoming a very SMALL place to be.
“ alright, fine. i’ll spill the beans before i get hit with the puppy eyes. “
he supports himself against the nearby wall & crosses his arms, deliberating on a place to begin. “ imagine if the KOOL-AID MAN was purple. “ probably not an accurate description, but she’ll get the big picture in a moment. “ except, like, muscly & huge. never seen him myself, thankfully, but i was able to grab some files off the extranet a while back. got a little curious about what was going on inside, almost got shipped off to a triple-max for the job. wasn’t even me that did the hacking, but i did go for the reward. “ dry lips are wet by his tongue. “ thought it was a whole bunch of bullshit at the time. then i found out what’s really out there, man … some nasty business. “
Pink lips part to protest this ‘puppy eyes’ comment, but Clara
quickly shrugs it off in favor of letting Peter just get on with the
story. She’s always been fascinated by the unknown -- by space
and science in general (which was no surprise given her technology
driven field). It was only recently coming to light the kinds of things
that TRULY existed outside of their world -- it was both exciting
and terrifying to tell the truth. The blonde nods along as Quill speaks,
unable to help a laugh from escaping as he draws a comparison to
the KOOL-AID man. “It sounds like you’ve led an exciting life, Mr.
Quill,” she adds with a soft smile.
As he finishes, she reflects on his words and despite how sugar
coated it all sounds, Clara knows better. “Nasty business sounds
like it may be a euphemism. As fascinating as that all is -- coming
from someone who’s only known THIS world, that is -- it seems
just as dangerous and frightening. I mean, I’d love to see what’s
out there someday,” she shrugs casually, ducking her head for a
moment before looking up again, “but I’m not sure I want to run
any risk of bumping into this PURPLE man.”
