I have only recently discovered X JAPAN (in 2012) and find them to be, by far, hands down, THE best band in the world (and i've listened to A LOT of rock & metal bands since into music in around 1992). I spent my formative years (the early 90's) listening to boring, makeup-less, bravado-less, mono-tone, mono-chrome, down-tempo American metal bands that featured, predictable melodies, boring grovely voices, jeans & tees (*yawn*), and predictable guitar solos, and many bands who's memory has faded away in the mainstream. None of those bands (even the most successful ones) were half as good as X. It's sad to me that my discovery of X is so recent & by accident (thanks to YouTube), but maybe it is fate in some way that i found them at this moment, and i will someday realize why it happened only when it did. During our indies days, we came up with the word “visual” to describe ourselves, which even to this day has never been matched. We adopted the slogan “Visual Shock,” and embraced it as a band that broke audience number records at lives.
In 1991, with our album “Jealousy,” we decided to do a nationwide concert hall tour. For our final stop, we picked a place that no rock artist in Japan had been able to play yet: Tokyo Dome.
From the beginning, X was a band that did what other people had never done - a group whose destiny was to do what inevitably needed to be done.
I can’t remember when Yoshiki said this, but he said, “Let’s be a band that tries to break 1,000,000 in sales. If we can’t do that, the music world will never change.”
I'm so grateful that I got to see X Japan at Madison Square Garden in October. How crazy and amazing to see this amazing band, live and up close, and in your own country?!
I'm so happy about X ~ the present, and so excited for X ~ THE FUTURE!!!
There are a couple of days to end this year. It can be said that this year has the most significant
transformation for me. I would like to thank from the bottom of my heart to
everyone who supported me so far. In particular, the publication of the book "Brainwash:
Comeback from 12 Years of Hell" has become a meaningful
event for my life. And related to it, we might be happy.
First, the book was chosen by Japan Library Association
Committee in their "selected books", so now is part of the
book collection of Japan National Library. As a result, if you go
to the country's library you can borrow the book and read it anytime,
opening up the possibilities to reach a lot of children,
his parents & friends.
In addition, Taiwan's leading publishers translated it into Chinese,
also the publication of the book in chinese was decided so it might
reach to those who can read chinese around the world.
Also, Masaki Kito lawyer agency who assisted me, gave me
the award of "9 links human rights Award", which is given to those
who have contributed the most in human rights activities at the year,
so this year, becomes the ninth.
From Kito lawyer "Toshl published a book this year that gave courage
not only to home of heart vicitims, but many victims of other related
cases. The book helped to the voluntary withdrawal of malicious
self-developmentorganizations such as Home of Heart to give a blow
to rhetoric of social psychologists and religious scholars that are
being affected, that's why the award is being given, because the
contribution to human rights is great ".
You humbly gave me an unmerited award, but in the future, we'll promote
activities to help you even a little, thanks.
The feedback and impressions from everyone who read the book is giving
me hope to live and changed the wounds of my past into force.
So far, I believe that there's a "now" and a "future" thanks
to everyone's support.

I saw Toshi at the X JAPAN sound check at Madison Square Garden (October 2014). I almost didn’t make it to the sound check. I was on a freaking local train (SO SLOW! •__•;) from my friend’s house in Queens. When the train finally pulled into Herald Square, I jumped off, and booked it the few blocks to Madison Square Garden, faster than a kid who’d just robbed a bodega.
I made it just in time. *\(^o^;)/* I was right next to the stage runway, and when Toshi came out, and he was just beaming. Just laughing and smiling the whole time. He was so excited. It made me teary-eyed to see him look so incredibly happy, after knowing of his years of darkness and unhappiness.
I hope that every year from this one out, gets even better and better for him. He appears to be a very good person, and a kind spirit, and I truly wish him a life of happiness. :)
