No but my dad actually did this at McDonalds in the 70s!

So here’s a true story: my father, sometime in the 70s was looking for his first job. He went to the local McDonalds and told the staff, [manager’s name] said I was supposed to start today. They took his word for it and started training him and by the time the manager saw him and asked who he was, people just said “oh that’s the new guy.”

Somehow this actually worked. My dad worked there for a couple of years as a cook. He even won an award plaque which he had on the wall until the day he died.

Okay story time

So I went to college at Western Washington University, which is super close to the Lummi reservation.

I went to see New Moon in theaters with a couple of friends (we love hatewatching stuff, and had a few drinks before going to the theater). We were super confused when we sat down, because for some reason about half the theater was full of 12-year-old boys. The movie starts, it’s just as terrible as we expect, and then about halfway through the movie theatre erupts into cries of THERE HE IS!!! THERE HE IS!!!

Turns out the boys had come to see their Lummi buddy who had been cast as one of the werewolves in the movie. It was absolutely adorable, and my friends and I instantly felt super irresponsible for having come to a movie to trash the film a kid’s friends went to to support.

listen, i know the first one wasn’t originally meant to be vitya. i know.

but….. kubo did repost the picture and mentioned that looking at it now, it does make her think of young vitya….. and now she’s drawn this new gorgeous official art where vitya is wearing the same exact coat and the setting seems pretty damn similar?? however, the feeling of the picture is completely different. the first one has a very melancholic and lonely feel, while the other feels nice and warm even though they’re both set in the middle of winter. just look at vitya’s face! look at that smile! he’s so happy?? and he has every reason to be happy: yuuri is right there next to him holding onto his arm and yurio is with them and vitya isn’t alone anymore and he’s found his passion for skating again!

but what gets to me the most is the fact that the new official art is titled “winter fantasy”! i’d say it sounds like exactly the kind of thing young vitya might be dreaming of in the first picture and boy does that thought make me happy and hurt me all at once
