Don't know if you saw this yet but... thought I'd let you know
Thanks for sharing it, friend :)
I read the full article, it was refreshing to see some Troy positivity in retrospective.
I think it was only natural that, after Gladiator got a requel, someone would think on going back here too. However, I wouldn't be already calling it the Troy sequel we never got. Starting on the fact that, if they would have wanted to fill the shoes of Sean Bean, they would have picked someone more charming than Matt Damon for the role of Odysseus.
People already started comparing this to Troy only because the new one is full of white and very known Hollywood actors. Yes, maybe Troy also had a too white cast, but that casting was still quite carefull and not at all like Nolan's Odyssey.
The only mega star I can see people could find "out of place" there was Brad Pitt. All the rest were either a- New actors that were just making it into Hollywood ( eric bana, garrett hedlund, diane kruger, rose byrne, etc) or b - Names already associated with the epic genre ( peter o toole, james cosmo, brian cox and brendan gleeson, sean bean and orlando bloom).
The Odyssey casting doesn't count with a single person in either of those cathegories. I feel the choices resemble more a Clash of the Titans kind of film than Troy.
