May I offer this thought I had when I was returning home from school: Marinette moving to Gotham and opening a bar.
Some guys think that a bar would be a good place to conduct criminalizing acts but unfortunately for them, Marinette does not tolerate such things in her vicinity.
Jason, who is undercover as a bartender or a stripper, suddenly finds himself in this weird predicament where his targets are taken in by this tiny girl who owns the bar and he does not know what to do.
Offer accepted and will live in my head rent free
Although I can't picture marinette owning a strip joint, I can absolutely (and repeatedly) imagine jason being a stripper.
Like he went undercover as a stripper for a job. There was a spot open for a bartender he could have taken but he was like, "nah, i'm gonna strip"
Then dick finds out and gets upset because jason was stripping and he didn't ask dick for pointers. He could have helped jason! They could have bonded
Bonus points of Dick finds out by also going undercover later as a bartender and very pointedly Does Not pout at Jason every time they have a shift together
I love this. but i agree with moche in that i can’t really see Mari opening up a strip joint... on purpose.
what I want to believe happened, is she opened up a normal bar at first but its mari so of course she drew in all these strays and lonely people and gave them a safe space to just exist. Mari is known for not allowing shit to start in her bar, and she’s known for defending working girls, a lot of which, mari ends up befriending.
it isn’t long before the girls convince mari to just ‘let them do a show on saturdays, like a treat!’ and not much longer after ‘the shows are doing so well! how about on weekends?’ and then before mari knows it, she’s got ten stripper friends and a construction crew installing a stage at the back of the bar and four other poles around the room.
she’s mostly resigned to it and figures that at least if she’s running the place, her friends are safer from sleezeballs who don’t know how to keep their hands to themselves.
When I read that Dick pouts when Jason dies his shows. I thought what if Marinette thought there was something between them and tries to set them up on dates
I immediately thought "everyone sees the pout and thinks dick had a crush on him" too!!! And the way jason treats him, it's clear jason is comfortable with him too. Marinette is a bit sad because she likes him too and they clearly have a history and are very familiar. And she had been thinking jason was flirting with her, but the was clearly something between the two of them
It doesn't help when Roy comes in posing as a customer and it gets out that they are friends, and he says what sound innocent, but actually to Marinette have way more and totally different.
Roy: oh yeah, they are really close, annoyingly close, but don't think they won't ever have each other's backs.
What Roy is saying: the two are brothers and fight but are there for each other when it counts.
What Marinette hears: they dated, they ended as friends but Dick still pines, and will do anything for him so maybe Jason also still likes him?!?
Yes!!!!
What she hears: they broke up but they still love each other. They'll get back together any day now
Yep. I'm also picturing Roy trying to be a wingman and talk up Jason, figure out if Marinette likes Jason and Marinette there suddenly is clamming up because Roy obviously likes Jason as well!
Hahahahaha. And she decides to bury her broken heart and try to figure out which one Jason really likes/is better for Jason so she can help that relationship, but she needs to get closer to Jason to do that. Cue Jason getting flustered and flirting with her, but she writes that off as just a flirty personality, because clearly, he’s gay.
I just thought of something else! So what if whatever they are investigating means they are also investigating Marinette to see if she’s involved. So they’re asking around about her and everyone is like “her?! you think SHE’s involved in nefarious shenanigan's? HA! Don’t let her hear you ask that. She’ll kick your ass and we’ll let her.” because everyone there loves her because she watches out for them and helps them and doesn’t judge them.
and then they ignore them because like what is a 5′1 mini woman gonna do and then they proceed to ask Marinette then she bans them from her accidental bar
