Let's be clear, Barry Bluejeans isn't bi because he's in love with Lup. She's a woman, full stop, so normally I'd be fine with reading him as straight.
Barry is bi because his only reaction to waking up naked to two guys (and a walking talking mannequin) in his home was "WOW must've had a wild night lol better get dressed". No panicking over what this means for his sexuality, just calm acceptance and a request for the clothes Merle is holding.
Barry found it entirely possible he partied nude with some dudes, and you'll never convince me he wasn't wondering which of them, if not all of them, he fucked.
[ID] A full color drawing of Taako and Lup, standing back to back with their hands clasped together, looking at each other over their shoulders and smiling brightly, both winking. They’re twin elves with medium complexion skin and blond hair. Taako is on the left, he has medium length hair worn in a braid. He’s wearing a white shirt, black shorts with purple tights, and tall brown boots. He has a red cape, and a large purple wizard hat with golden beads around the top with small star charms hanging from them. Lup is on the left, she has very long hair with small buns on her head. He’s wearing a red jacket with high waisted brown shorts and tall black boots. The background is a small teal oval behind the two. [end ID]
[Id: Digital drawing of Lup, a tan skinned elf with long pink hair. She is wearing a white, sleeveless shirt and a light pink skirt. She is smiling with one of her blue eyes closed. She has a flower crown on her head. She is standing on a field of wheat, an orange sky behind her.]
Lup would love the midsummer festivities, you can’t convince me otherwise.
Justin yelling "Where is a competent woman to come save us" is so much funnier in hindsight with the knowledge that Lup was in that staff because it's just like "Taako, don't you see? The competent woman was inside you('re umbrella) the whole time!"
ID: Digital drawing of Lup, as a lich. She is a black silhouette with flaming hair, wearing a cropped red coat, robe, and pants. She is turned left, grinning, hands raised. Flame curls around one arm and more swirls around her body. There's an explosion behind her. Black opal tendrils creep up and down the image, and the border is covered in glitches. End ID.
[image description: a comic that starts with Lup, a dark-skinned elf with long curly blonde hair, standing on the beach at night. She’s holding a massive fireball above her head and saying, “You ready for this, Mags?” A voice out-of-frame replies, “Defo!” and Lup says, “Alright, taaaaake-” She pushes the fireball forward and says, “This!” The next frame shows Taako and Barry in the water. Taako is identical to Lup and is lounging on a surfboard. Barry has pale skin, short brown hair, and his mouth is submerged in the water. There’s a red blush on his cheeks and stars in his eyes. From out-of-frame, Magnus says, “Gah! Lup, the driftwood, not me!” Lup replies, “Ahahaha! You should have thrown it sooner! Haha!” Taako is telling Barry, “Don’t forget to breathe, Barold.”]
[ID: art of Lup from The Adventure Zone in lich form, grinning with her eyes glowing as she conjures multicolored blasts of flame. Lup’s a brown skinned elf with straight, chin-length blond hair, wearing a red robe. End ID.]

I’ll see my family... goodbye cruel worrrrld-
Wait wait wait wait now I'm curious. Tell me about number 9 - the crossover question from the writing meme. Please?
9. The two fandoms you’ve written the most have been suddenly crossed with each other! What AU are you writing?
Oh god…
Okay, under a cut because huge spoilers for The Adventure Zone Balance arc and also because I know this intersection of interests has a crossover of, I'd guess: one (1) and that person is me.
Okay so to start, I think we get a handful of episodes of the 118. And this crew is Bobby, Chim, Hen, Buck, Eddie, and Sal. There's various emergencies that are pretty par for 911 but the weird thing is that we're given a lot of implications that this is a new team. But they work together so well. Someone reaches for a tool, someone else is there handing it to them. They make odd references (that context clues explain to the audience) but everyone on the team gets it. People not on the team - victims they're helping, short term love interests, etc - are clearly confused but shrug it off.
So then I think the first midseason Big Drama is Bobby and Athena on the cruise ship. They've not been together long but they connected fast and get married and then this honeymoon trip goes bad and the whole team scramble for help. They show up at Harbor and there's no connection to Tommy. (Except there's a very surreal similiarity between Tommy and Sal who keep eyeing each other and referencing that later they want to compare family trees. We get a few moments during the ensuing drama that have them making the same gesture or expression. I think we hear Tommy mention some saying his cousin is known for and it's a saying Sal has previously mentioned his cousin saying on a previous episode.)
But, anyway, Chim didn't call him ahead. They just show up and Tommy immediately throws in with them and they work on that instinctive level, ‘yes, and’ing their way into a helicopter and heading out. They work together, we see lots of Tommy fitting in with the 118 at that same automatic understanding level. Half completed sentences they each perfectly comprehend, etc.
And then… at the end, the rest of the crew barely gets out… thanks to Tommy's sacrifice.
Because Tommy dies.
They barely knew him but they find themselves referencing that situation/him often.
We then go on through a few seasons like normal. Only as they go on, there's jokes about the curse of the 118 but… we also slowly see there's a guardian angel, too. ‘The Pilot’ rescues them without being called.
Chim doesn't call Tommy but a plane shows up for a water drop in the nick of time.
When Buck and Chris are caught in the tsunami, a line from a helicopter tows them to safety.
Etc etc, but they never know who the mysterious pilot is.
And now we sprinkle in the 'begins’ episodes. And there's something verrrry vaguely off about them. The station looks different. The quality of the light is different. And Tommy is there. There's no question about it, everyone knows him, it's never explained.
And then there's the lightning strike.
Buck doesn't get a coma dream.
Because Buck dies.
And after he dies, he ‘wakes up’ in the hospital and Tommy is there. And he knows Tommy. He rushes to Tommy and embraces him. Tommy is crying but happy. Buck's dead but he's there, he knows him. And he knows Sal is/was Tommy's twin.
This is when Buck realizes all the times Tommy was there for them.
From here we go forward and Buck and Tommy are there to help. As ghosts. Who can possess people/things. I think this culminates in the lab and an unnamed/unseen-through-the-helmet suited up person keeps Bobby and Chimney both safe.
After the lab, Buck and Tommy show back up. They're liches, blah blah blah, power of love, somehow the lab had body regenerating vats and… somehow they're given treatments that restore memories, these guys have known each other for a very long time and they're, uh… definitely not from LA. Or this world.
Hilariously to me, this implies that Eddie is Merle. (Because of Chris being from this world!)
[ id: a photoset of 2 pictures of lup from the adventure zone, an elf with tan skin and short pink hair. she’s wearing a red sleeveless jacket with a black t-shirt, fingerless gloves, and denim shorts.
in the first image, she’s lying on the floor with a plain-colored background, her face hidden by her arm. the second image is similar, but she is now holding up a trans flag in one hand with the caption “Trans Rights!” over a lighter background. end id. ]
[ID: A drawing of Lup, a thin elf with light brown skin. She has very long, voluminous blond hair that turns red-orange near the tips and has a couple black feathers tucked into it. She wears denim overalls over a dark pink crop top, worn off the shoulders. She also has ovular glasses and a black choker. With one hand on her hip, she grins and holds up a red drink with a celery stick garnish and a bendy straw. End ID.]
people like to make taako and lup have sun and moon motifs but they come from a planet with two suns and no moon. twins suns. someone do something with this im so sleep deprived
ough I wrote tags but I'm not done — they're sun elves according to Taako's original character sheet! Which has plenty of non-canon pre-rolled stuff, but the other stuff that got ignored wasn't this symbolically juicy! They're twin sun elves from a planet with twin suns! Are twins auspicious in sun elf culture on their planet? If they are supposed to be a fortunate omen, then how do Lup and Taako feel about that belief compared to the hardship of their upbringing? Do they reject that symbolism sullenly? Or do they decide to make themselves a fucking prosperous life through hard work and scrappiness instead of fate, until yeah, they are a fucking blessing and a gift for other people to bear witness to! The worldbuilding and characterization go crazy!
And oh, on Faerun. On Faerun there's only one sun. On Faerun there very quickly becomes No Lup. Taako is alone and there's only one sun in the sky, and the sun looks lonely and Taako doesn't feel whole, and he doesn't know how to explain why! And meanwhile there is a moon symbolism character, there's Lucretia right there, and ohhhhh she still remembers the twin suns of her home planet, still remembers Taako and Lup, but she can only recreate that home by mirroring it with twin moons! Taako and Lup and Lucretia are from a planet with two suns and one moon and that's what they respectively represent in those exact numbers! THANK YOU OP you are the most correct person ever and the underratedness of the twin sun symbolism has always made me lose it.
the audacity of griffin saying "oh why does everyone care so much about barry bluejeans, he barely had any screen time" and "barry's dead and never coming back" when he had that whole lich!barry freaking out about the umbrastaff scene literally IN THE PREVIOUS EPISODE.......... oh griffin mcleroy when I catch you.
[image description: a photograph of a cross stitch piece. “Story and Song” is stitched in capital letters that are colored in a gradient from green to blue to purple. To the left of those words are two jelly fish, one large and one small. The large one is dark blue with purple tendrils and the small one is bluish green with green tendrils. They both have stars inside their bells, and their tendrils become wavy lines that turn into a line of sheet music underneath “Story and Song.”]
