I think my favorite thing about the backrooms movie is how much it doesn't hold your hand and over explain things to you. you as an audience member have to figure stuff out on your own via context clues and your own thought process.

It's something I really love to see, because I really love it when a film actually trusts the audience to listen and pay attention to the film and actually figure things out.

The film never throws too many questions that it becomes hard to figure out, the movie doesn't overwhelm you with lore and questions (which is also great) but it gives you enough questions for you to start wondering about the backrooms and you should feel about it.

There's a difference between being sexy for your own empowerment and being sexy for male attention/validation. Some people think it's the same thing; it's not.

Self-empowerment: I want to feel hot, and bikinis makes me feel hot, so, I'm going to wear one.

Male validation: I want to feel hot, and I know men find bikinis hot, so, I'm going to wear one.

This is the key difference: One focuses on self, while the other focuses on the man-made patriarchy. One is liberating, while the other is oppressive.

Anyway, that's why I love Chappell Roan's music videos while Sabrina Carpenter's music videos keep making me more and more uncomfortable.

On one hand: the increasing level of political violence in the United States is very concerning, especially considering our gun problem. I do not want to live in a culture where assassinations are frequent, and it’s legit terrifying how much of a powder keg we’re in.

On the other hand: Charlie Kirk reaped what he sowed. It’s impossible to overstate the level of harm this man did. He acted as a propaganda arm for fascists and billionaires, advocated against the rights of women and minorities (he proudly said he would force his 10yo to give birth if she were raped and impregnated), and railed against reforming the very gun culture that killed him.

So yeah. Bye, bitch.
