The problem with conservatives when it comes to families and children is the fact that they really expect every single healthy, of age, able-bodied person in the world to reproduce, and they fail to realize that that’s actually not how the world is supposed to work. Their view on this is what fuels shit like misogyny and homophobia and what they’re not getting is: it is normal for a small % of people to not reproduce. Most people will, but some won’t. This is not only normal but necessary.

There has to be SOME form of population control amongst humans. Animals have their own form of population control because they are hardwired to know when to stop. But for some fucking reason, conservatives think that we shouldn’t. That women should just keep having babies beyond their body’s capacity to fulfill some kind of desire to please their god. Nature, in real life, is not like this. Never has been. You are GOING to have anomalies, you’re going to have groups that don’t reproduce and those groups are just as essential. Not reproducing is just as essential to the wellbeing of the planet and future populations.

Apparently, JK Rowling has pissed off a lot of gender critical people on twitter by admitting that she has a trans woman friend she refers to with she/her pronouns because that individual is her friend and she wants to make the said person happy. I think it is so tiring how easily people fall into black and white thinking and fail to learn anything from the cult behaviour of tras. More than two things can be true at the same time: It can be wrong to force people either through law or social pressure to lie and control their speech and it is dangerous and offensive for media and researchers to report and record people's sex falsely. But when it comes to someone's personal life, they can still be free to choose to refer to someone with preferred, although inaccurate, pronouns. Just like they should be free to choose not to do this.

Women are vital to this. Without women, male ambition devolves into pointless waste in rivalries, petty conflict and egotistic chest-beating. Women "civilize" men. They take that inherent restless energy, ambition and competitive spirit and by their presence and their role as mothers and wives, channel it into something much more productive.
