the thing that really gets me about mizumono is that will doesn’t even fight back. he saw alana mangled outside. he knows jack might be dead. he has a loaded gun in hand. but not once does he try to hurt hannibal. he doesn’t even shoot. will just lets him caress his cheek, fingers curling into his hair. there’s no resistance. when hannibal stabs him, will leans into it. he doesn’t want to escape. and it all hurts so badly because it’s not like will tricked hannibal into loving him; he simply persuaded him that he might love him back. because that’s what will thought hannibal did to him in s1, and only now does he realise that maybe it was more real for hannibal than he thought. or worse, that maybe he wants to be with hannibal regardless of whether hannibal genuinely loves him. that maybe it’s worth it to be close to him, even if his touch splits his stomach open
Doctor "just draw one more clock bro I swear it'll help you bro" Lecter
that's so cute do you think he framed any of them
bro got confused about the framing part
hannigram are not enemies to lovers they’re friends to lovers who keep breaking up, except each breakup is more devastating than the last
thinking about the first time will sees hannibal after three years. how the highly sophisticated man he remembers now looks wearier, his hair a little shorter, the lines in his face a little deeper. how he’s been degraded but still holds himself with pride and dignity, refusing to be humiliated. how will is a married man and really thought he was doing okay but knew he was kidding himself the moment he laid eyes on hannibal again because it doesn’t matter how much time passes he’s still horribly in love with him and never truly moved on. he knows he lost his heart the day hannibal gave himself up, and it didn’t start beating again until this moment, three years later. and the ache of it hurts so much more than it did before. if anything, the longer they’re separated the worse it gets
Part three of my s4 art series
This time: Will having the audacity to come into the kitchen and accuse Hannibal of doing things he actually did while he's innocently trying to cook dinner, Will rescues a dog, a museum trip (with consequences), Will killing someone who recognized them at the museum after the guy confronted him a couple days later, Hannibal lovingly washing the blood out of his hair<3, and Jack getting to their house in Cuba a little too late. At least Hannibal left him a letter.
(I hope you like this I've been working on it for months)
s1 will graham found out hannibal helped someone hide the body of a murder victim and he wasn’t even like what the FUCK he just went “well you’re really bad at it lol”
this and how will never gets weirded out by the fact that he has to eat ppl in s2b. we never get a dramatic scene of him driving back from hannibal’s house after dinner and pulling over to throw up on the side of the road or something, sir doesn’t even pretend to care
something i think about a lot is that will had a gun in mizumono. he scoped that entire house with the gun out and his finger on the trigger. but as soon as he saw abigail, any resolve he had, any doubt he had about what he wanted to do once he got there, completely dissolved. he sees abigail, alive, whole, alive, but the first thing he asks is “where’s hannibal?”
and then hannibal appears, covered in blood and holding a knife, but also completely and utterly devastated. he looks wrecked and old and betrayed, and tells will “we couldn’t leave without you”
it’s at this point when he hears those exact words that will realizes the betrayal he’s committed. the absolute extent in which he has ruined everything bc he warred with his heart and with his head for too long and now he’s missed his chance. at what he still doesn’t know but will realizes he’s missed it and nothing can change it- the teacup cannot come back together
so will lets hannibal gut him despite the gun he had in his hands. he lets hannibal get close enough to cradle his face and does nothing more than grasp hannibal’s shoulder for support as he is eviscerated with a knife
to some extent, this is how will begs for forgiveness from hannibal and hannibal understands and does forgive will, but not before cutting the last tangible string that tied them together (abigail). and though will tried to save her, he already knew he wouldn’t be able to and kept his eyes on hannibal, still asking for forgiveness
all the while, will’s gun is laying on the floor no further from will than abigail was
i was thinking too much about mizumono and now i’m crying
I love the "where else would I go" line because it's romantic, like a sort of promise, I'll stay by you're side, I won't leave. But it's also defeat, an accusation, you made sure that I don't have anywhere else to go, you made sure that there's only you. And it's an admission, a decision he's made or is still making, I choose to be on your side, there's no turning back for me.
imagine Will becoming almost scarily overprotective of Hannibal after the fall, because Hannibal was never supposed to be capable of getting hurt and yet there he was, his injuries worse than Will's, and Will is suddenly forced to be reminded that Hannibal is mortal after all and can leave his world for good if he gets hurt too badly.
if i could physically give you flowers i would. you got the vision perfectly
nbc hannibal is a romcom purely because the central conflict results from hannibal not understanding his feelings for will and being a total loser about it because he’s never had a friend or been in love before which makes him act so silly and do the most insane things that will interprets being framed for murder as hannibal having something against him (as anyone would), and this series of misunderstandings is not resolved until hannibal’s ex girlfriend and former psychiatrist tells will that hannibal is so in love with him it makes him look stupid. after that will does not hesitate to break hannibal out of jail and douse himself in blood which is this show’s equivalent to the protagonist running to the airport to stop their love interest from leaving the country and marrying someone else before they’ve had the chance to confess that they’ve loved them ever since they’ve known them

There is a very clear difference to how Hannibal commits violence against Will compared to others. Sometimes there is the air of him doing it for pleasure, but often it’s out of necessity, self-preservation. He killed Tobias and Antony to keep his secret, he fought Jack in “Mizumono” to stay alive. While it was “I need to do this”, part of it was “because I want to”, versus with Will it was “I have to”. He didn’t necessarily want to harm Will like he did the others, but he had to protect himself, whether physically from prison or emotionally from betrayal. But there is a hesitancy with violence towards Will because he cares about him. He knows he has to inflict pain, but he wants, needs, that pain to be survivable, tolerable, forgivable. There is a deep-rooted fear that Will may not forgive him. What if this act is the final straw and there is no going back.? Still, it’s a need that cannot be ignored, it has to be done. With tears in his eyes, it must be done. And the only thing he can give amongst all the inevitable suffering is a bit of kindness, a small touch of love. A little token of “please just trust me. Trust that I don’t want to do this, but I have to, and I would do anything else if I could.” Hannibal wants the best for Will and is burdened with dealing him the worst. A violence he knows too intimately, and he has no choice but to extend it to someone he loves. An ache deep in his core spread through a trembling, hesitant touch. One last good brush of skin before the spill of blood. A tuck of hair behind the ear and a plead from his soul that this won’t be the time he loses Will forever.
So when Will forgives him in the catacombs, it’s a relief that yes, he was forgiven, he didn’t lose him. But a bitter ache crawled up from his mending heart knowing he had to eat him, and it’d be final. There would be no Will Graham left to forgive him. The least he could do is extend that love once more. Tend to his wounds, hold him, pet his hair, feed him, make it so Will doesn’t feel too much pain. And when it all falls to pieces, he is left in limbo awaiting Will’s forgiveness, hoping against all odds that he could turn back time and go back to a place where they were okay again. But it was the final straw. Will didn’t want him. Will wouldn’t miss him like he’d miss Will. Years and distance separate them, but it could never fully rip them apart. Because at the end of it all Will forgave him. Wanted him. Chose him. Loved him. Despite all the violence and bloodshed and tears, it was all worth it if it meant ending up in each other’s arms. To be the last thing the others feels with no more time left to worry about forgiveness because he will have it for eternity.
thinks about how mads mikkelsen said the only thing going through hannibal’s mind when he realized will was going to tip them both over the cliff was overwhelming joy and peace and “so be it” -> goes insane
post-fall hannigram would be so lame. will sees hannibal using the lawnmower incorrectly and gets hit with such an overwhelming sense of lust that he has to retire to the seaside and sit with his feet in the waves for three hours. hannibal sees will imperceptibly smiling at him in the firelight and has to lie across the chaise motionless and unseeing for the rest of the evening
