My Demonic Son
Concept art I drew a while back for some animated kids-show villains. (Maybe PJ masks?) One is a dark scholar who summons li’ll eldritch monsters, and wants to summon a BIG eldritch deity to end the world. He’s over 2,000 years old but is still a tween in terms of emotional maturity, which isn’t helped by the fact that he’s lived through like a dozen wars, and has now outlived every family member and friend he ever made other than this Elder God who speaks to him in his dreams. Don’t call him Gnarl unless you want your mind flayed. The other one is literally just the witch from hansel and gretel, if she was 11, actually won that fight, and then turned Hansel and Gretel’s skeletons into gingerbread golems. She wants to turn kids into comically-large pies and wields a variety of candy-themed magic spells and artefacts.

Reblogging because how could you not.
Far future Mandolorian becomes a cyborg so he can live long enough to raise Grogu to adulthood. Now literally just a brain encased in a droid body derived from his original set of armour. The Children of the Watch view him as the perfect exemplar of their faith, because he physically cannot remove his armour and has no face to be exposed and shame him. But he mostly lives in retirement on mandalore, while Grogu is this absolutely terrifying force-wielding bounty hunter. They still go Imp-hunting on weekends as father-son bonding time, but by this point the Imperial remnants are literally reduced to almost nothing, just clones of clones of clones that are like 4 feet tall and colourblind with shitty scrap-metal stormtrooper armour, pootling around in stolen ships.
Journal of Outer Solar Anthropology (May 3118)
Entry one: Europa
Ectothermic metabolism. Antifreeze compounds in the blood and other body fluids. High myoglobin and haemoglobin concentration. Bioluminescent tissue layers in the face and hands. Huge eyes that can see by what little light the body can produce, because there’s no sunlight here. All the usual adaptations to an ice-moon environment. Because out here the habitability of a world is defined not by proximity to the sun, but by the delicate balance of geothermal heat, tidal flexing, pressure and salt content, together acting to sustain an ocean where no ocean should be; sealed under thousands of metres of ice.
And yet, as improbable as it seems, there are at least a dozen worlds of this kind strung between the gas giants, each a bastion of life; their hydrothermally-heated oceans sheltered against our munificent but inconstant sun’s cruel whims and against the vagaries of asteroids. Ever since the underwhelming success of the Dust-Eaters on Mars and their botched terraforming programme, the myriad Outer Moons have been the main focus of humanity’s efforts to recreate itself on other worlds; spawning a plethora of new species, each engineered for the specific conditions of their respective moon’s sea. On Europa, a significant challenge is pressure. With a sea-depth of over a hundred kilometres, and despite the less-than-Lunar gravity, the bottom of the ocean experiences pressures greater than the deepest of Earth’s sea-trenches. To withstand this, in addition to the traits described above, the Europans have entirely given up their skeletons; a cartilaginous framework is all that supports their rubbery form, as anything as brittle as bone would shatter under these conditions. They use a lot of pressure-stable proteins and enzymes spliced from snailfish and marine snails, and a good chunk of their dry weight is proteins that were engineered from scratch and coded in.
On other ice-moons, the balance of gravity to ocean depth contrives to produce much lower seafloor pressures, but other environmental conditions demand other adaptations. We will look at one such example in our next entry. - Dr. Arylin Hycean of the Institute for Outer System Biological Pursuits.

Would it be feasible for a merrow to resemble an illithid? They seem like the closest analog to a playable Mortasheen vampire and the illithid influence on that class is nicely apparent. If that's too much of a stretch, I'd probably want to play as a Borg, which I love as a distillation of mad scientist tropes and would really suit a classy, theatrical supervillain type. I'm not great at coming up with a suitable look for the robot body I'd want, but they're full of potential options. Honestly, Mortasheen has my favorite race selection of any game. If you can have monsters and BE a "monster," what more could anyone ever want?
They just have vertebrate fish features, but there's another metahuman concept I've worked on a while that would cover having mollusk skin and any tentacles wherever you want them :)
"You can say that [orangutans] are not dependent on social support and approval, and if you admire this in them, that an orang is irredeemably his own person, 'the most poetic of the apes', researcher Lynn Miles told me once in an unguarded moments. What she had in mind was the difference between orangs and chimps in the way they carry on their discourse with the world.
Chimps are much admired for their tool use and for their problem-solving relationship with things as they find them...the orang is, let us say, not so replete with enterprise. Give an orangutan the hexagonal peg and the several shapes of hole, and then hide behind the two-way mirror and watch how he engages with the problem.
And watch and watch and watch--because he does not engage with the problem. He uses the peg to scratch his back, has a look-see at his right wrist, makes a half-hearted and soon abandoned attempt to use his fur as a macramé project, stares dreamily out the window if there is one and at nothing in particular if not, and the sun begins to set. (The sun will also set if you are observing a chimp, but the chimp is more amusing, so you are less likely to mark the moment in your notes. An orang observer has plenty of time to be a student of the vanities of sunset.)
You watch, and the orang dreams...when casually and as if thinking of something else, the orang slips the hexagonal peg into the hexagonal hole. And continues staring off dreamily."

Open your presents, li’ll timmy! Oh, what’s this? The Bubonic Plague? Oh, you shouldn’t have!
man I really wanna see an unironic production of the hanged king’s tragedy; no anomalous stuff, just the play as it was presumably intended before cthulhu rewrote it to drive people mad for kicks. I’ve been reading this document, and it honestly sounds pretty interesting! The file on the SCP clearly says that only 36.78% of performances result in anomalous events! That’s practically a two out of three chance of it not driving me mad!! Right?!!
