wait people sleep with their doors closed????
okay now im curious. reblog this with where youre from and if you sleep with your door open or closed
I live in Western North Carolina, and have for about a decade (I was born in north Georgia, was there a few years, and then lived in northern South Carolina for a bit longer before I lived in North Carolina). And I sleep with my door CLOSED so none of the lights that may or may not be being turned on or off by my family gets into my room, and also so their sounds are muffled. It also does tend to announce their entry more - a door opening is louder than mere footsteps.
no, actually, i can’t be friends with someone who has opposing political views. this is mostly due to the fact my views are “people deserve rights”
See, you're never going to get anywhere like this because there are many people (not all, of course, but many) who directly oppose you and say the exact same thing.
The fact that y'all can freely complain about this already disproves your point.
Me: "why don't I have the energy to write? Maybe I'm just a failure..."
The four hours of sleep and two packs of crackers that consist of all I've eaten of today:
FUCK THAT'S THE WRONG IMAGE
No, no, I think you're on to something here
good things are better than bad things
nuh uh
Reblogs in a chain now get their own notes
The reblog chain is one of the things that makes Tumblr unlike anywhere else. All the notes on reblogs are attributed to the original post, no matter which branch people actually liked or reblogged. We want to keep encouraging conversations, and give contributors the recognition they deserve.
Soon, you'll be able to like, reblog, or reply to any part of a reblog chain, and that note will go to that reblog's author. Each reblog will have its own counts, instead of one aggregated number from every version of the post. And yes, you’ll be able to like multiple posts in one chain.
If a reblog doesn't add anything, the love flows up to the last person in the chain who did. Your post doesn't lose notes just because people spread it quietly.
Past notes will stay on the original post — we're only changing what happens from here on out. Retroactively re-attributing all of them would be... a lot.
This is just the beginning. More changes are coming as we keep building this out – stay tuned!
Let's talk about reblog notes.
We rolled out a significant change to how notes work on reblogs, and the reaction has been strong. We're not going to pretend otherwise.
First things first: We're reversing the change. Your feedback in comments, emails, and especially reblogs, made clear that the rollout created problems we need to address before moving forward. We also should have communicated this differently from the start, and we didn't.
We still believe there's a better version of how reblogs can work. One that gives every voice in a chain the credit it deserves. But we want to get there with you.
In the coming days we'll share more on how we plan to do that, including ways to work directly with some of you on this and future changes before they ship.
Keep an eye on @staff for updates to come soon.
Thanks, @staff!
We appreciate it.
Okay, so according to this post, @staff says they're listening to us, so...
Sound off, Tumblr! How do you feel about the latest update to the reblog and notes?
Hate it. 👎
Like it. 👍
No nuance. Go ahead and reblog the crap out of this.
I cannot stress enough to Tumblr staff that they do not need to change the site. Do not try to be like Twitter. Do not try to be like Reddit. Do not alter how this site works.
Tumblr will be the most popular social media site if they continue letting all these other sites implode
This precisely. The unique functionality of this site has produced the unique environment, and we are here because that environment is AWESOME.
@tumblr, @staff, @changes
If I wanted Tumblr to be like X, I'd be on X, not Tumblr.
If I wanted Tumblr to be like Reddit, I'd be on Reddit, not Tumblr.
If I wanted Tumblr to be like Bluesky, I'd be on Bluesky, not Tumblr.
If I wanted Tumblr to be like any other social media, I'd be on THAT SOCIAL MEDIA, not Tumblr.
And yet I am here, on Tumblr, because it is Tumblr, which is AWESOME. But y'all are trying to make Tumblr NOT Tumblr.
This idea, at its core, isn't even that bad. The idea of a reblog getting notes? Awesome! That sounds like a great idea, and a very good way to help credit contributers. But it cannot whatsoever cut into the original poster's notes. Just give the note to multiple people!
But this, Tumblr, this will break this platform fundamentally. Following through means you'll become dead. If Tumblr will become a worse X or Bluesky, than many will just move to X or Bluesky. Many will just leave flat out.
If you read this through, don't reblog it, because then OP wouldn't get the notes and engagement. Reblog the original post.
I have to admit that this one made me laugh out loud
something something the boss's two henchman
Well, that's just FINE AND DANDY. The moment I get back to Tumblr, they break their entire site's unique function over their knee.
No, no, see, not being able to track how other people are reblogging your post is a GOOD THING. Who needs to see anything more, than say, like, one reblog? It's not like our whole website is based on the reblog chain being easy to track by every participant wherever it is used, so they can actually be made and maintained and participated in. No, no, that would be silly.
@staff and @tumblr, please don't do this. That would SUCK.
Let me put this into words you will understand. Users will LEAVE. This will LOSE YOU AD REVENUE. This will be BAD FOR THE SHAREHOLDERS. The share price of Tumblr will DROP.
This isn't X. We're here because this isn't X. X is bad and awful. Tumblr is supposed to be good. DO NOT BREAK CORE FUNCTIONALITY.
"cold showers are better for you" WRONG! SCALDING HOT SHOWERS FOREVER!!!!!!!! 🚿🚿🚿🚿♨️♨️♨️🚿💧💧💧💧💦🚿🚿🚿🚿🚿🚿🚿🚿🚿🚿🚿🚿🚿🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🚿💧💧💦💦💦🔥🔥🔥🔥🚿🚿🚿🔥♨️♨️🚿🚿🚿♨️♨️♨️🚿🚿🚿♨️♨️♨️🔥🔥🔥🚿💧💧💦💦💦🔥🔥🔥🔥🚿🚿💧💧💦💦🚿🔥♨️♨️🚿♨️♨️💧💦💦♨️🚿🚿🚿🚿🚿🚿🔥🔥🔥🔥🚿♨️♨️🔥🔥🔥!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Why must I choose between the two?
See, my issue is that I like so many things on here that absolutely deserve a reblog, but like, I mean, I want to have a fairly clean Main Blog where's just my thoughts and responses to stuff, closer to a blog proper. I'm split on relegating this task to a public likes tab or a reblogging secondary blog. I'll probably go for the second blog.
when you're such a bum you fail to set up your blog so you look like a bot, as well as to diversify your tumblr feed so the person you ended up spam-liking on accident blocks you (my greatest apologies @thisbibliomaniac)
great start to new tumblr account, going fantastic
New type of spam blog? @3djko for anyone else who needs to block
sorry, i made a new blog, and was too lazy to update it, and i was scrolling. sorry.
