"Specifically in America, the solidarity movement with the Palestinian cause is largely conditioned on the continuation of the Zionist entity's existence. Anyone who supports our case from among the Americans and is fundamentally opposed to the Zionist entity and its existence necessarily opposes the idea of America. The enemy state is almost a carbon copy of America itself, with the exception that the Zionist project was aware of its nature from the outset. It is impossible to win over the American side without them rejecting the idea of America. So don't beat yourself up trying to win over the hearts of Americans begging for their tears over your bleeding bodies. What's better and more important is to dismantle the idea of America in their minds as an entry point to ensure our cause and our rights are embraced. Any effort otherwise will be wasted in vain."
The clashing Intellectual, Basil Al-Araj.

people who tell you to stop reading the news to "regulate your nervous system" do not have your best interests at heart. if following current events makes you spiral you probably need a better analytical frame, not less information
and the analytical frame you need is probably dialectical materialism
i'm totally crazy, i freak out all the time, but you know what helps me most? learning. reading. studying. discussing. sometimes you do need a nap, but sometimes you need a conversation with someone more knowledgeable/experienced, or a day at the (physical or digital) library. and really i think everyone has a different baseline emotional register that's best for them and their circumstances, but i recommend aiming to feel solid and anchored, not necessarily "calm." of course we won't feel "calm" after reading about genocide. but if we approach what we're reading correctly, it can strengthen our resolve; feed our fighting spirit; show us paths to liberation. a lot of people in my life have diagnosed me with "revolutionary optimism" and wonder how i maintain that mindset but i'm not an optimist by nature, it all comes from studying
i cannot wait until the global south diaspora in yankville that regularly manufacture consent for their countries of origin outlive their purpose after the colony gives up on global hegemony and casts them to bin like the dried up pulp they are. i hope the yankee passport is so weak at that point that they will have no refuge but in the ocean depths.

the US hasn't secretly been fascist all along. fascism is a specific political form that emerges when capitalist rule faces existential crisis, so it abandons liberal institutions. The US and other western states have generally remained liberal democracies since the birth of liberalism. they hold competitive elections, keep competing parties, and preserve independent* civil institutions. calling the US fascist obscures how liberal systems actually function
liberal democracies have throughout their history carried out colonialism, imperial war, genocide, and other mass violence. the British Empire governed vast colonies while having parliamentary democracy at home. during that period it tortured people and locked them in concentration camps, brutally crushed independence movements, and starved millions of people in preventable famines. France’s republican governments carried out brutal wars in Algeria and Indochina through fully functioning liberal democratic institutions; in Indochina to try and reimpose colonial rule after ww2, and in Algeria to stop its independence movement. European liberal states also supported Indonesia as it killed over 1 million suspected communists in 1965–66, amongst supporting and perpetrating many other atrocities. all the US's brutality and repression fits perfectly into the tradition of liberal democracy, where human rights have never been universal
*being independent of government doesn't mean that some aren't key in upholding ruling class power

when usamericans say "the state of the world right now" they just mean their country's current political climate. and when they say "you wouldn't understand what we're going through" they're always talking about something every other country has experienced ten times before and usually because of the US
No altar, no belief, no holy book, neither the Qur’an nor the Bible nor the others, have ever been able to reconcile the rich and and the poor, the exploiter and the exploited. And if Jesus himself had to take the whip to chase them from his temple, it is indeed because that is the only language they hear.

“Your government won’t last that long” - smiling Võ Thi Thang says to US-backed regime judge in response to 20 year prison sentence
And she was right! Võ Thi Thang was sentenced in 1968, only seven years before the liberation of Ho Chi Minh city. Although she's most well known in the West for this photo and quote, she went on to have a prominent career in the Vietnamese Communist Party, even serving on the Central Committee for 10 years

A woman reports that her ex is stalking and threatening her. The police say they can't do anything.
But when rich people's property is threatened by those who are desperate to survive, the police show up in large numbers.
The police don't care about you. So stop caring about them.
