So I blacked out again whilst playing my clarinet. This time it was in the middle of a concert. Actually, during the second to last song, I noticed the signs of impending doom, so I stopped playing...but the blacks squares kept crossing my eyes, and the black squares would enter my vision but wouldn’t leave through the other side, so more and more black squares kept filling my vision, until it was so hard to see my music. At this stage I had already stopped playing, the instrument was just in my hands, me sitting motionless, not playing. I thought I was fooling everyone and was “pretending” to be playing. In reality, I literally took the instrument out of my mouth and held onto it with a death grip, and everyone next to me could clearly see something was wrong because I was not playing a note. I thought I was fooling everyone, but I was only fooling myself.
Losing blood in your brain makes you really stupid!
Eventually, the music disappeared, but from what others said I didn’t actually faint, but no one knew that I was blind. The whole time I was dearly trying to see the music page, and I tried to put the instrument in my mouth but I just kept poking it into my cheek, like a drunk person with bad motor reflexes.
Eventually the notes starting seeping through the blackness, just in time for the ending, and I was like, ok I’ll play the last note. LOL. So I did, even through the partial black fog curtain. Wow. I still wasn’t thinking straight at the end, so my neighbours took the instrument away from me and said I wasn’t playing anymore, and made me put my head in my lap, and magically my vision reappeared!
I was somewhat embarrassed, but not much. I actually felt worse for letting the band down and not being able to play the last two songs. Oh well. Right after I felt weak and lightheaded and felt sick and horrible. Before the concert I was aggressive and mean and grumpy, after the concert I was in a delicate state, and in a helpless state.
Maybe drinking more and eating more could have helped, but, it’s hard to do these things when you don’t have an appetite to tell you to eat! Literally, I stuff food in my mouth.
Oh yea, and 7-11 Slurpees do wonders for me. I’ve already had 3 this week. I’m afraid it’s becoming a bad habit, but, the sugar and the coldness are so nice, and I like cold drinks now, especially ice water, and I’ve NEVER liked ice water!
I am not planning on running for a while. Not until I start gaining more energy. I mean, it’s not as hard for me to climb steps anymore, but that feeling has been replaced with an overall sense of fatigue all day every day. I could wake up, spend half hour doing something, and then feel quite comfortable going back to bed to rest. I go to bed at least 2 hours before bedtime most nights (when I’m not out late at band or dinner) to rest before I go to sleep. It actually feels horrible. Especially because I have uni. At least my mind is still working (Or is it?? o_O) And work (in the office) is the only thing that I enjoy anymore. I think I still enjoy it. I guess I will find out tomorrow, if I go. I still feel weak, and I only black out when playing my instrument, but, I haven’t really rested all weekend because I don’t let myself. I force myself to study.
You know, the other night I was SOO tired, my eyes were closing and I was falling asleep, but I was forcing myself to sit in front of my books and papers and answer the problem set questions. I had to do my assignment. It’s the least physical work I do in my life....at least I don’t have to act out my assignments, that would be painful and long.
Ok, I’m going to finish watching Mr Hollands Opus. And try to get some other good things to watch.
Sorry for the ranting text. This stuff just isn’t suitable for facebook.
