Pros to my dad working on planting a variety of native plants and various flowers in our yard: Diverse animals in our yard and whatnot. Native bees are here.
Cons: I have a severe phobia of moths and sometimes they appear now while I’m gathering herbs and chase me around the yard like some kind of deranged commedia dell'arte bit
Would it help at all to expose yourself to particularly small or interesting moths? I ask because I used to be arachnophobic and have managed to downgrade to "severely afraid of most spiders" by deliberately making peace with the teeny brown spiders in my garden who just want to enjoy having leaves and keeping aphids off my plants. There are, similarly, teeny black spiders that want to enjoy having well-shaded soil and eating other bugs that want to eat my plants, and once I managed to get used to the brown ones, getting used to the black ones was easier.
I won't, like, TOUCH them, but I don't run screaming from something a tenth the size of my thumbnail anymore, either, and I'm a little more able to just...shoo or walk away from ones I haven't acclimated to.
I can look at a cartoon moth for about five seconds before I start crying does that count

i get why people don't believe in marriage as a social construct but legally it is the best and easiest way to say "this is who i trust to take care of me when i can't take care of myself" and i'm so glad gay people fought for that right bc when shit gets scary at least i know im in good hands
functionally suicidal character saying “I would die for you” to their significant other and its like. I get the sentiment, honey, but if a hot dog vendor told me he’d sell hot dogs for me, I wouldn’t feel very moved now would I
Now a functionally suicidal character saying “I will live for you”. Now that’s a dynamic I can sink my teeth into.
now how about a functionally suicidal character saying "I will sell hot dogs for you"
Hotdog vender lays down their life to protect their suicidal partner, who then takes over the hotdog stand to carry on their memory...
you have permission to pick that 2 year old "abandoned" project back up. it's not mad at you for setting it aside. and maybe time and distance have helped ease or erase the things that made you put it down in the first place.
I think a lot of people were raised being told that things are bad with no explanation as to why they’re bad and I don’t think I know enough about psychology to make any big statements about that
but anyways I think a lot of people see cheating on your partner as bad because they were just told that sex outside of your partner is bad or something but really cheating on your partner is bad because you had an agreement based on trust with them and you broke that trust so like why should they trust you with anything else now
Bloopers are movie aftercare and it’s fucked up that we got rid of them
Me when everything has deep meaning life itself has purpose and your existence is your responsibility
huge fan of the depth of a good purple but another area that draws me is definitely around aquamarine/turquoise/seafoam. you can not go wrong once the green starts getting just a tinge more blue. a gal could certainly do worse than to pull over there and stay a while
something earth shattering going on here
forgive the version of you that didn’t know any better
forgive the version of yourself that knew better but did it anyway. forgive every version of yourself. we are constantly learning from our mistakes.

Every safety regulation is written in blood, and every weird customer service question is written in the drool of an idiot before you.
Ordered the "signature omelet" (jalapeno and feta) at a place where the waitress then confirmed "That has jalapenos, is that ok? They're spicy. And it has feta, is that ok? It's a strong flavor." Other people at my table thought it was stupid, but I was like "That is a woman who has had to take back a lot of omelets from people who didn't know that jalapenos would be spicy."
as i slowly try to get over my arachnophobia i must confess i always thought it was silly when people told me "don't worry, they're more scared of you than you are of them!" like okay first of all i'm not even sure if thats true, most house spiders seem like they're kinda minding their own business while i am demonstrably freaking out. second of all if it IS true then it doesnt even change how scared i am. like great now we're both scared. i'm scared, the spiders scared, everythings fucked. lets just burn the house down hand in unlovable hand (and hand and hand and hand and hand and hand and hand and hand.)
“don’t take it personally” how would you like me to take it then? professionally? romantically? academically?
